Stay away from root vegetables and beer, an cut back bread. That was doc told my ex. Also, yogurt and pickles have something in them to help neutralize uric acid. Isn't it neat, when we have a topic, a product related shows up on the page. Very informative. Good luck, it is a misery.

Blessings, Ruth

My dad swears by Tonic Water. I think he likes Schweppe's Tonic Water the best.

My grandmother soaks her feet daily in epsom salt and water hot as she can stand. Seem to help her.

It is a build-up of uric acid in the blood and the liver and kidneys are over taxed when this flairs up. (what dr told me when I had it). Medicine for it (colchacine--not sure of the spelling)causes bad diarreha, but keeps it from coming back for a long time (15 years for me)

Hot dogs/wieners are full of uric acid. I am so sorry you are having to deal with such a painful thing.
