I've lost two precious stones, one opal and one topaz. Found the topaz but not the opal. I wonder if you ever get over that awful feeling. Most of the time for most of us it's very rare that we have precious stones. So they are meaningful. Hope you find it.

At field day years ago, I learned that coaches are really smart. A teacher lost her diamond in the grass. A coach was nearby and told her to stand where she thought she lost it. She was stood right there. He went and got the lime machine they used to mark the field and put a circle around where she was standing. We looked and looked. No luck but she and her family came back later and, thanks to the lime circle, they found it!

Yes, twice! All my life I'd wanted a diamond because it was my birth stone... When hubby and I got married he bought the biggest diamond we could afford (not terribly big!). One day while cleaning house for my mother, the diamond fell out of its setting. We all searched the house, my dad even tearing apart the vacuum cleaner bag and combing through every bit of dust and dirt that was in it! No diamond. So several years later we were able to buy an even better and slightly bigger diamond and had it set in my ring. The jeweler made sure it was good and secure and would not fall out of the setting, as the first one had. I was very proud of that diamond... until one day, working with a horse, the entire setting fell off, diamond, prongs and all. Searched the area but it was hopeless as the horse area was pretty soft and muddy. After that I gave up on diamonds and now wear a plain gold band. I'm just as married without a diamond!

I had a marquee diamond ring. I'd bought it from a divorced gal who needed the money to move back home. I was trimming cedar limbs and shredding them. That evening I noticed no diamond. I went out with a flashlight and looked all over where I'd been. No luck; I was sad about it but there was no sentimental loss in it; just the monetary part. The next day I got my things out to get to work again and as I pulled the small trailer out there it was; laying there as if saying "here I am". I was really surprised. I had it reset. I also lost the diamond in my engagement ring from my late husband; thankfully it fell out on the table. It's now in a zip lock bag to be repaired. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. It can be really upsetting.

I wear two diamond rings - left hand from DH for our 30th anniversary and right hand - the diamonds my father gave my mother for their 25th. Have both insured. Our first wedding rings were matching gold bands with a silver diagonal line that has small diamonds in it.Mine was too big so I put it on the window still in our bedroom. It came up missing and I couldn't find it but didn't say anything thinking I would find it. About a week later, DS#1 who co-oped at local grocery store came home and asked me if I knew where my ring was. Make a long story short, a subsitute housekeeper had it on her hand checking out at the grocery store and DS#1 saw it and recogized it. Got it back and fired her which she didn't understand.

Wow! That is one of those truth is stranger than fiction stories!

How very sweet. What a great husband you have!

Yes, I have , and talk about panic city!! Was stacking leaves, ect, for the Fall Clean-up. Suddenly my left hand felt strange. Looked, and my wedding rings were gone!! They had dropped in the leaves, so I hunted and hunted. Told my DH to come quickly, and what had happened.
We both looked, and eventually found them. My rings had gotten a bit too large for me, and hadn't thought of having them re-sized.
So now I don't wear them except when we go somewhere. Would hate to think of losing them when baking a cake or something!!
58 yrs. of marriage and that was the first time for that, and hope it is the last for losing my rings!

When my hubby and were first married, he saved for a whole year, without me knowing, and bought diamond earrings for me for Christmas. Our new puppy that was his Christmas present, loved to nip our ears. He ate one of my earrings. We never found it, but we did have the puppy for 15 years.
