My mother is 91 and refuses to wear hers most of the time. We went to Lexington Hearing aid place. My husband is 100% VA disabled and he is on his 3rd pair in 5 years. This last set works the best. He went thru VA.

Born as a hard of hearing person, I have worn aids all my life. I feel the hearing aids cost way too much and it angers me that I could buy a really HUGE TV for far less! I am with visiting an ENT doctor first and have a hearing test done. Google www.lloydhearingaid.com. This outfit sells hearing aids of all kinds at reasonable prices by mail. I was a customer and have no financial involvement with this company. If you send a copy of your MIL's hearing test, the outfit will recommend which aids will work best for her. She can try them for 30 days, etc. At a time when I was a stay at home mom, this company was a lifesaver because I could not afford hearing aids otherwise. I am now retired and can still get my health insurance through my employer. The plan I have now covers hearing aids, finally! Don't buy hearing aids from hearing aid stores without going to an ENT specialist or audiologist who are not connected with the stores.

Costco - great service, best prices, great products. Cindy couldn't be more pleased, at half the price of same quality items elsewhere. They also do free cleaning and adjustment whenever you need it.

One tip on batteries. My ent recommended getting them from Amazon and so far even going thru the military stores its cheaper on Amazon. The military also doesn't cover hearing aids for dependents either.

Maybe I'm off base here but does she need hearing aids? Has she seen a doctor and has he recommended hearing aids. Also, for such a large expense, will she even wear the dang things? 95 is a difficult time to start something new, especially if she doesn't want them Just saying.

My Mom had a hearing aid in the fifties. Not very good back then and batteries weren't the best either. We all had to talk loud before she got it.
Times have sure changed and improved a lot of things. My Husband needs them and won't go to the doctor. I do a lot of repeating.

Where ever you get them if you do, make sure you can return them the first few months in case whe can't/won't wear them youo cna get your money back. Many older people can't stand them once they have them. Mom had them, partly paid for by GM ins one a year but didn't wear them most of the time.

My husband has had two sets of hearing aids. Expensive. Have to be adjusted often. This time when he needed hearing aids, we bought them on the internet. True they are not the high tech expensive ones but they serve both of us well. We each bought one. $179.00 each. They fit behind the ear with a clear tube running into the ear. He is changing batteries a lot less than he did with the pricey one.
