This is from a newspaper clipping that I have hanging on my fridge:

Before meals, mix the juice of half a lemon and a pinch of salt into an 8-ounce glass of water and drink. After meals, try a teaspoon of honey to soothe your heartburn.

Good luck, I hope it goes away soon! I have a lot of heartburn lately, because I'm pregnant. It's yucky!

I have it all the time. I carry Tums with me. My sis had it all the time too and it went away after she had her gall bladder out. I'm not ready for that.

Tums or Pepto Bismol are fast acting but, for long term, if it keeps happening, try an acid reducer. The reducer cuts down on the amount of acid whereas an antacid takes care of the immediate problem?? Now that I've switched over to the acid reducer, one a night, I'm able to sleep on my back without that acid reflux thingy happening.

Hope you feel better!

Acid Reflux is dangerous. It can cause cancer to your esophagus and that is untreatable. If you have a severe case more then once a month you need to take a acid reducer at least once a week, not an anti acid. I have a prescription for generic acid reducer that I only have to take once every two weeks to control my acid reflux.

canned pop helps relieve the build up from heartburn.

Chewing gum also works. The extra saliva created breaks down the acid in stomach.
