My Mom used this for years in Hawaii - with great success:

Ant and Roach Powder

2 parts Boric Acid Powder
1 part Sugar
1 part Corn Meal

Mix together.
Store in any air tight container.

Application:
Place in a bottle cap (or similar small container) and place along "trail".
You may also sprinkle at the site of apparent "entrance".

Good luck.

What works for me is Comet you use in the kitchen. Shake some in all the area where the ants are. I also use it in doorways to keep other creepy crawlers from coming in.

This is an RVer trick. We shake Comet around the wheels to keep ants out when we park.

Be VERY careful with boric acid around pets. Bad!!!!

I have tried Terro, and Borax. and still they keep coming back.
I appreciate any suggestions.

With 5 dogs, 4 cats, three grandsons who visit and some casual housekeeping on occasion....I get ants sometimes in spring, like NOW! Baby powder works wonders for me and of course, smells good. Get the regular talc kind, not the cornstarch....ask me how I know!!!! (Hint: I think ants like to eat cornstarch!)

I have had excellent results with vinegar. If you know where they come in pour it around the area or any place they are at.

ant traps help me too...but everytime it rains here in the BR I get them, I need to go get some more ant traps and put them in the BR!

Hi,
A few years ago I had ants on the dining room floor. I mopped the entire area with undiluted vinegar. They left and I have not had any more. The vinegar can be used most anywhere.

Was bombarded by kitchen ants last year, they were coming from every kitchen crevis. Nothing I used helped and I tried some pretty expensive stuff. My daughter-in-law brought over a box of "Hot Shot MaxAttrax Ant Bait" A little plastic disc with an opening on one side. They come four in a pack and she said they were very inexpensive. I put one in a corner (out of sight). Haven't seen an ant since (over a year ago). I just got the box to give you the name of the product, it has three left in the box, I never put another one out - its still in the corner, probably not effective any longer but the ants must have passed the word to stay away from my kitchen. It was probably purchased to Walgreen's, CVS, Walmart, etc.
Good luck
PS Box says "guarenteed to work for even severe infestations, Kills in 24 Hours"

I had an exterminator come in & he put this paste outside about every 8'. He recommended feeding them outdoors so they would stay out side & not come in looking for food. Just tonight I noticed a carpenter ant on the desk here so I guess I will start my battle!
