Thanks for the memories. I recall them all. We must have been real hardy. What a wonderful life. DH and I say, glad we lived when we did.

Some times I think this world would be a better place if
we could return to some of the standards we lived by in "The Good Old Days". Money and the most expensive items seem to be the goal of children today and parents go along with this. What a shame! Not suggesting everyone does this, but I do see this happening so much in our culture today. Yes, I do remember all the above mentioned remarks. What fun. Betty Lee |
Such memories.....I loved it.

I'm 39 and remember so many of the things mentioned! Growing up in a rural area meant technology came to us at a snail's pace.
We did have a color tv, but mom & dad still had the old black & white in their bedroom, and my grandmother still had one too. We also still had telephone party lines until I was about 17. As a child I played out in the cow pasture, swam in the creek and drove dad's big John Deere tractor...unsupervised...and I'm still alive! Things were so much simpler back then...maybe we just worry too much now. |
That was a walk down memory lane. Thanks.

I grew up a desert rat, born in Tombstone, AZ, and lived in an adobe house. I remember turning the bed covers all the way back before we got in bed, and turning our shoes upside down and banging them on the bed frame, all to make sure there were no scorpions or snakes where we were going to put our tootsies. We knew to make noise while listening for snakes when we walked through the brush, and to stay out of the cactus. When the grands visited us from the city a few years back DDIL wouldn't let them play outside for fear the would get bit, stung, or stuck by a thorn! We knew how to survive, but I'm not sure they do. But their world is different, so I should hope they learn to survive in it.
