My grandkids think it's funny when I say "it ain't funny, McGee!". They'd have no idea where that saying came from. They haven't heard the words I heard either, like "piffle". That was the closest my Grandma came to swearing.

How about "pickin' the fly sh-t out of the pepper".

Thought of a few more:
He would argue with a fence post.
Dumber than dirt.
Good Grief
If a frog had wings, he could get bird booty.
Scarce as hens teeth.
If I tell you a chicken dips snuff, you better look under her wing.
Blinks like a toad in a hail storm
Panting like a road lizzard.
If you're not out front-the scenery never changes.

One of my favorites is "Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive".

Just thought of another one my mom used to say when we got in the family car to go some place. We're off like a hard of turtles. Then when we got ready to go home she would look at dad and say, "Home James." His names was orlando but he did chauffuer use everywhere. LOL

We are definitely losing old sayings. Keep saying them and explain them when you need to, let's keep them alive.

Elephant Stew:

1 medium elephant
2 rabbits (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
brown gravy

Cut elephant into small bite size pieces (this should take about 2 months). Add seasonings and enough brown gravy to cover. Bake at 465 degrees for 4 weeks. Will serve 3800 people. If more people are expected, 2 rabbits can be added, but do this only if necessary as most people do not like hare in their stew.

Enjoy!

If everyone jumped off the bridge, would you?
Pardon me for living!
Geeze Louise!
Of course... Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Do kids still hear that? Wouldn't seem like it.

A lot of adults have forgotten that one...
