Does everyone keep up with reading the message board as soon as it is posted? I just finished reading May 29 message board I read everything from top to bottom. I'm really behind. What do you guys do? It is really an enjoyable site.

craftybear 06-06-2010 03:32 PM

lots of things to read, I have learned alot from this site

virtualbernie 06-06-2010 03:33 PM

I don't read everything...I usually skip over the classifieds because I have no money, :). There are so many new people that I can't possibly look at everyone so I don't. I just usually look at the pictures and drool over them and if I see a question that I may be able to answer or something that I wanted to know also. I also spend an inordinate amount of time reading the posts--off and one between quilting -- my poor family!

Luv Quilts and Cats 06-06-2010 03:34 PM

I check in once a day usually, more on weekends. Only problem is, it cuts into quilting and reading time. This site is so good, but addictive! :D

saf45 06-06-2010 03:37 PM

i read with my morning coffee my noon lunch and after supper, addicting it is,love this board

I go To The Sea To Breathe 06-06-2010 03:41 PM

That is usually how I read it. Sometimes I read in the morning and again before I go to bed at night.

cjomomma 06-06-2010 03:47 PM

All day long I keep up with my watched posts only because I carry around an Ipod with WiFi when I am at home. I can look and clean house, do laundry, feed everybody at the same time. I spend about an hour in the evenings lurking and posting on new topics, after everyone has gone to bed. I was wondering too as to how others keep up with it all.

Jim's Gem 06-06-2010 04:03 PM

There is no way to read all the messages and look at all the pictures. You have to pick and choose, unless you have hours and hours and hours and don't really want to quilt a whole lot.
There is way too much going on here to stay involved in all of it!!!!

Maride 06-06-2010 04:06 PM

Unemployment...gives me plenty of time.

bj 06-06-2010 04:15 PM

I try to check in 2 or 3 times a day. I always start with recent topics, then if I have time, I move over into pictures. I'm excited we have so many new members, but I can't seem to keep up with welcomes...I know I'm bad. I am glad to see everyone joining. I find the way new topic switches to new posts is very helpful. That way I at least know if I've already read that topic. If it's one I'm interested in, I can check back in. I'm not getting to sew much lately, so this keeps me connected to others who are.

Same here and I also love cats and quilts :D:D:D

sharon b 06-06-2010 04:25 PM

I start with unread topics and truthfully never catch up on them. After a while you will scan quickly for some posts as you like them more . It also helps that they are broken down into sections

Don't worry it is almost impossible to keep up  But it sure is fun to try

dsb38327 06-06-2010 04:31 PM

I spent one complete day on the couch reading and responding to post. I couldn't keep up. It just isn't possible. There are so many post I want to look in on later for updates and I don't even look at all of those. It is wonderfully addictive and keeps me from quilting. I keep promising to discipline myself but I learn something every time I am logged in and I hate to miss anything.

amma 06-06-2010 05:28 PM

I think it is impossible to read every post, or to keep up with the older ones with new responses... I would love to, but there are just not enough hours in the day LOL

littlehud 06-06-2010 05:28 PM

I spend some day time here on my days off. Other wise it's an hour or so in the evening.

Jingle 06-06-2010 06:00 PM

Last couple of months I was training our oldest Daughter to take over my job, so I had lots of time to read this board. Now I'm retired and won't spend near as much time on here or the computer in general.

reach for the stars 2 06-06-2010 06:07 PM

I love this site you learn a lot and make friends. It is addictive tho.

roseOfsharon 06-06-2010 06:07 PM

I come on to read some topics and look at the pictures of projects and stop in a few topics that are a constant. I doubt that I could keep up with everything that is printed! In the beginning I tried to say hello to the newcomers, but there are sooooooooo many and I just find I cannot keep up. I wish there was a general page for all newcomers to enter in and we could go there and say Hello and Welcome to All that are new!

QuiltingGrannie 06-06-2010 06:16 PM

You mean we don't HAVE to read everything????

I gave up a long time ago trying to read everything. I scan the recent topics, check my PMs-, comment here and there, and look for Marsye's comments and humor.

I wish I had more time to welcome all the newcomers also. I love having them join and don't want then to feel slighted.

Suggestions would be to read what you want and if you are looking for something specific go to 'search' and look for it. There is a LOT to be found.

quiltinghere 06-06-2010 07:41 PM

I read with coffee in the morning...just like some people read their newspapers, right?

I check UNREAD TOPICS and read the posts that have topic lines that make sense and are to the point.

Then I'll check recent topics if I have time.

I *MARK ALL AS READ* every day so I know where I've left off. There's no way I can read everything either. I'm trying to curtail my time online and do more sewing! It's working.

quilting memaw 06-07-2010 02:20 AM

I read when hubby is not here...LOL...he hates it if I am on here all evening.

Mine got used to it. He doesn't like it either, but we sit side by side on our own laptops and read, do searched, and facebook, and even send each other emails! Yes, while sitting next to each other.

rannyof3 06-08-2010 05:08 AM

I look for it first thing every morning when I open my email. This is the only thing that has kept me going while going to school the last nine months. Love reading it and seeing all your beautifuls creations. thanks to ALL of you for keeping my sanity....

EdieClay 06-08-2010 01:05 PM

I find I read the first page of the comments, then go on to the next topic I am interested in. I have really learned a lot just in the few weeks I have joined. This is a gold mine of information from experienced quilters. I appreciate this.

finch 06-08-2010 01:33 PM

I look forward to my newsletter and I also enjoy reading it early in the morning with my coffee. It is a fantastic newsletter and I enjoy it very much!

dljennings 06-08-2010 03:16 PM

i keep an eye on my 2 grandbabies after dinner for about an hour..so they play in the sitting room while & get to ck the board, when mommy calls them for bed, i try to go up & quilt for a while but sometimes after 10 hrs at work, the commute & grandbabies, all i really want to do is pull my blankee over my head & sleep

so even if i don't get to quilt everyday, i do get to read about it!

GrammaNan 06-08-2010 04:52 PM

One word--Unemployed.

starlight 06-08-2010 06:29 PM

I read at least once a day usually read the ones that interest me first. I tend to look at the unread topics too.

Iam on my laptop reading the board and hubby is on the desktop reading his fishing board. Works out well.

QuickStitch 06-08-2010 11:13 PM

That's why I'm still up at 2 am. I try to get caught up by staying up late sometimes. LOL :D

Deecee 06-09-2010 12:31 AM

I check in morning and evening. Don't have too much time to spend tucked away on computer so I skim through and stop here and there.
