I've had a rough couple of weeks. On vacation at our place in the north, my old laptop lost use of its usb function and my air card, which I used to connect to the internet no longer worked. Went to the AT&T store and got talked into a new phone that had a "mobile hot spot" function. Great!!! Only $100 later, I was back on line. . . A few days later, it fell out of my pocket, into the river. . .no insurance. . .3 days later, still not dry and not working. . .went back to AT&T and updated my second phone for another $100 (added insurance and a special water resistant holder for another $50). A couple of days later, my old laptop died with absolutely no warning!! Another one hour trip to the big city to buy a new laptop-what an expensive summer this has been!!!! But-I'm back on line!!!!

loves_2_quilt 08-27-2011 04:21 AM

Glad you are back, hope you have a better next few days.

nance-ell 08-27-2011 04:23 AM

Those are the times when I hate technology! lol... glad you're back. I'm sure you'll be a "regular" again in no time.

ptquilts 08-27-2011 04:25 AM

oy... if it's not one thing, it's another. And sometimes it's the same darn thing over and over...

Glad you're back!!

blueangel 08-27-2011 04:26 AM

Glad you'r back

donnajean 08-27-2011 04:31 AM

I was just reading some paperwork that goes with my credit card & it appears I have coverage for loss for the 1st 90 days. It also doubles the warranty period of items purchased with the credit card. Did you happen to purchase your phone with a credit card?

Glassquilt 08-27-2011 05:20 AM

Ouch! Hope your credit card covers for you.

debcavan 08-27-2011 05:36 AM

Welcome back. I am sorry you went through all of that.

littlehud 08-27-2011 05:41 AM

Wow, one bad thing after another. I hope things settle down for you now.

AllStitchedUp 08-27-2011 05:41 AM

I hope that isn't "Catchy!"

MrsM 08-27-2011 05:49 AM

Glad you are back. I had insurance for my daughter's phone. We have had to replace it numerous times. But it could have been worse.

suezquilts 08-27-2011 06:13 AM

Yes, I was informed today that they were taking my LAQ off becuase I wasn't a regular anymore.

I had a daughter and 2 grandchildren move in, after a rough divorce she needed shelter and help with 2 little ones. It sucks any extra time out of my life. It was so worth it though. They moved out last week, and I'm missing them already.

I'm still quilting and soon to be a regular.

donnaree59 08-27-2011 06:15 AM

Oh my... Hopefully all of your problems are now over and you're back here for a good while!

moonwork42029 08-27-2011 08:04 AM

hopefully its all behind you now

dogpursemaker 08-27-2011 08:34 AM

I was at shows for two weeks, now I'm irregular again! Guess I better get to gabbing.
Sorry to hear about your techie losses and issues.

cjsparks 08-27-2011 08:52 AM

Working 14 hours will do it.

KarenR 08-27-2011 08:54 AM

Glad your back!

annthreecats 08-27-2011 09:11 AM

Technology, isn't it expensive!!!!!

Airwick156 08-27-2011 09:46 AM

I am going to quit fretting about if I am a regular or not. Its only a couple of words anyways. Life is more important then "A regular here". Not everyone is able to post every day to keep up the status.

Glade your back!

jad1044 08-28-2011 05:09 AM

I'd lost my regular status too while having company - but it did not cost me $ - just the frustration of not being able to get online with this fine group of quilters, which make my day each morning when I set down with my coffee cup to get my day "going"........

didi 08-28-2011 05:26 AM

Welcome back, sorry about all the trouble, I know you really missed us!!!!LOL

jaciqltznok 08-28-2011 05:52 AM

I think there was a POWER trying to tell you to go off grid for your vacation!!!

rexie 08-28-2011 06:22 AM

It doesn't take me long to lose mine either.

joycecil 08-28-2011 06:41 AM

Sounds like my life.

lenette 08-28-2011 06:54 AM

sounds exhausting!

mountain deb 08-28-2011 06:56 AM

I have lost regular status a time or two myself, usually due to computer failure. Back in early June it was due to lightening strikes times two within a week of each other. Both times I was down nearly a week.

Sunnye 08-28-2011 07:42 AM

Ouch.
Cat litter is good to dry out wet electronics!

I've heard that one also uncooked rice will work. Have never had to try that but did try to wash my phone with my cloths and it took awhile to dry out then it quit just as I was phoning relatives to announce the arrivial of a new baby to the family. That was almost 6 yrs ago and about 2 yrs ago bought an iPhone to use on the net when I do not have my laptop with me.

stoppain 08-28-2011 08:51 AM

oh! that sure hurts

I was told to put a wet phone in a sealed bag of rice. It worked the first time, the second time was just to much. I was wondering how you were doing, just thought you were having so much fun, you didn't have time to get on-line. Did you ever get the FW table?? You haven't missed much here except for the giant skeeters.

The real issue is regular status, right? I'm wondering why and who decided comments constituted regular status. I check this board every day and enjoy checking it out, but I don't always comment if I can't add a comment that hasn't already been expressed. It seems often you read through redundant comments that just take up a lot of time, time better spent quilting. I would like to see it based on how long you have been a board member.

I agree! Why do you have to comment on everything you read to become a regular?? It takes too much time when you want to sew and quilt! Not fair that you have to have a title!

Quilted Dogs 08-28-2011 12:01 PM

Welcome back, kind of expensive for u for sure....we are all worth it though right.......sorry u loss your status, I think u need to let them know what transpired and mayb u can get it back, ask a moderator

debp33 08-28-2011 12:59 PM

What a story!

I lost mine because I went back to work. Not nearly as eventful.

vickimc 08-28-2011 01:16 PM
