I usually give pencils and small tablets. I have heard the kids say as they arrived "this is where we get pencils and tablets" They seem to like that.

I make magnets out of plastic canvas. Some kids only want magnets and no candy. I have kids ask me through out the year if I will be having magnets.

I suggested to my Texas daughters many years ago that they do as we did when they were kids. We zip locked a few candies in bags and also put our return address labels ON them or in them. This was way back when people were putting needles in candy and hospitals were Xraying candy for free...

But finally one night when I had to look WAY UP at most of the trick and treaters, and the entire yard was filled with kids let out of vans in the middle of the cross road...that's when most of this neighborhood said to heck with it and turned off the lights. I only give stuff (an hour or so before dark) to the 3 small ones next door, take goodies to work for the other workers...and eat most of what is left.

It's almost DIET time...the eating season is coming.

how many trick or treaters do you tend to get?
we've been here for 5 years- and one year we had 4---the other 3 years we had 0
so i bought a small bag---just in case- if any show up i will probably give them a big ole handful!!!

I give one candy bar per trick or treater. At the end of the night when crowd has thinned out, I usually give a couple extra to each bag just so I can get rid of it and it won't be here for me to eat!

My kids used to go to a house where the people went way out!!! The took a can of pop and taped a store bought and wrapped popcorn ball on top. Next they covered these with a white napkin to make a ghost and glued chocolate kisses for eyes and I'm forgetting right now what they used for the mouth. So cute and the kids just loved them.

we probably will have a hundred or more. People drive up in vans and let out kids. I quit a 8.P.M.

I usually give out a large candy bar. However the last few years I haven't had that many. I wasn't going to giv any but dh made me feel bad so I went out and got small bars. they were going to get two each and we have not had one child yet.
so, I guess my grandkids are going to get the rest.
