How many forums?
 

How many quilting forums are you a member of and what appeals to you about each of them?

this is the only strictly quilting forum i belong to. i used to belong to other forums that are quilting related... quilting machines, quilt guild, sewing forum, and many others. none are as awesome as this one.

just this one. i would never get anything else done if i belong to more lol

i have lost count of the many forums out there. each has something different to offer, so it wouldn't be at all surprising to know that some of us belong to more than one. (i admit to being a bit biased when it comes to ours. LOL )

two ways in which we try to be different are that we discourage or delete nasty posts and don't allow greed to ruin our little Thrift Shop/Yard Sale. i know that policy isn't universally popular but since we are not a dive bar or marketplace, it's worth ruffling a few feathers to keep us that way. :D

I belong to two other ones. Mostly I look for the social aspects of each because I am not really into quilting but purse making. I have gotten good ideas from all of them and made some friends. That's all I'm looking for.

Just this one. None of the others I have visited seem as easy as this one, even with the changes, which I am getting very used to. I'm not even surprised anymore when I log in and see the new screen.

Only this one. Love it.

I read a lot of quilty blogs, but only this quilt forum.

This is the only public forum I have joined. I like the fact that the discussion here remains focussed on quilting and appreciate the expertise of our members. Any time I've had trouble with anything quilty, I have found lots of help from this group.

I belong to three.

I joined this forum in the summer of '09. Before being introduced to it by my lovely stepmom, I didn't even know such a thing existed. On my first day here I signed up for an IRR because it sounded so exciting and adventurous. Since then I've done a number of block swaps and another IRR. I really like the variety this site offers for sew-swaps. Through this Board I've also connected with a wonderful group of local quilters and for the past 2 years we've been having regular get-togethers and have had several retreats. I've made many friends here and am very appreciative of that.

Last summer I joined a forum that was brand new. The Quilting Board has huge membership numbers and the other forum gives me the small-town feel I was looking for. I've enjoyed the fact that I recognize nearly every member there because it is so small. I'm not looking for further swaps to participate in right now, but I like the smaller forum for general chit-chat with people I'm so familiar with.

Then last night I joined another forum - a very small one. I'm still familiarizing myself with it but it appears that most members check in only sparsely. I've been really impressed with the pictures I've seen posted there but also feel like if I don't check in regularly, I won't have missed too much. It seems pretty laid back and not highly trafficked.

I was curious if others belong to multiple forums and what each forum provides for the individual. I think the three I've joined each provide a different atmosphere from one another and am content to not add any more for a while. Thanks everyone for your responses.

Patrice, that looks like an interesting list of sites. I'll have to browse through those - but only as a lurker for now. :0)

I have not joined any others , but it seems like some of the old regulars have gone elsewhere. I can't imagine trying to participate in more than one and get anything done... like actual quilting!

Two I actually post and check in daily on. This is my favorite, even after all the changes. Still getting used to it. Two is all I can keep up with and still get any sewing done or work :)

I did belong to thequiltshow but since I've found this one, I've rarely visited it. This is the best forum I've found by far and I need some time for actually quilting/sewing too.

This is the only one I subscribe to. Occasional I pop into those that show up in a search, but have never joined. I do love the pictures on this forum, though I find they load a little slower. I guess it encourages me to stay a little longer.
Now I'm busy working on my own Blog. And recovering from Cataract surgery. Sewing with one great eye is daunting.

I belong to two, one of them a paid site. I joined the paid site before I found this one and rarely go to it anymore, It seemed so unfriendly. I love this board and check in at least once a day. Love how friendly everyone is and how accepted I feel. :o

I belong to two different ones. This at one time was the only one that I really used. I was on here all the time. The other one I hardly ever went to. Now its the same for both. I hardly ever come to either one now. On I read the Daily Digest on here but that is about it now. I really really miss my time on the board here.

I belong to one other, smaller forum. However, I don't visit there as often. Even with this new format, I find it easier to get around.

I belong to two, the other one I just get free patterns from. Don't like their postings and didn't find much of anything else interesting. I come to this board several times a day. Posting is easy and gives me others to show my quilts off to. This is a great place.

so far only this one.....don't have much time for another....

One and I love it. Have so many friends here.

I stay on this one, I did try out one other site but found it was very slow to load and also found that there are not many new threads or people to talk to not like it is here. I find everyone here is kinder and more likely to just chat with you throughout the day. There's that saying "the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence" thats how I feel about the other boards

I found this one and never left it felt like I was home so I stayed and never strayed

this one and one other- the second one i have been part of alot longer- it is much smaller-kind of an intimate little group for me that i've made friends with over the years- i participate in 2 activities with them each year- and drop in to see how everyone is doing once in a while- do not spend anywhere near the time i do here- there its more once or twice a month- here---it's a couple times a day :)

I think I belong to either 4 or 5 other forums. None of them have the traffic this one does though so I don't check them too often.

I belong to several, not all quilting or sewing related, and each has it's own appeal. That being said, I frequent the one's that appeal to me at the moment. I work and I am tired when I get home...so, being able to get in and out is important to me. If it's work then it's not someplace I will go often..

This is it for me. Never thought I would spend so much time on the computer!

I belong to a bunch of groups on Yahoo and Google that I have set for "Web Only", most of these are dollhouse miniature or quarter scale related. This is the only group that I currently keep up with and has been since I joined.

I love all the tutorials and pictures of quilts that make me want to stop what I'm doing and try to make one. And the people have been so generous with me when I needed them. I really love this forum and the people in it.

I did belong to another but couldn't follow it and that is why I so enjoyed this board........but sad to say, I cannot get into
this one since the change and now I only occasionally visit. I really do miss the old board.

I have only looked at this one, I don't have time for more. Like you I have some new friends that I've enjoyed meeting in person. I'm glad you're one of those new friends! I find with the changes to this site that I'm on far less because I just don't have time to get to know it. Maybe after the holidays it will be better!
