Humming Birds

Just caught a glimpse of a humming bird yesterday morning. It was at the wigelia bush out side the kitchen window. They seem to have arrived here a little later this year than the last couple of years. Could be we had a cooler spell longer this spring.

Down here in south Texas we've been seeing them for some time now. We have a feeder outside our front room window and a honeysuckle bush (coral color) very bright. They hover and feed there every day. We sit at out kitchen table and can watch. Cheap entertainment.

I love seeing them. They have been around for about a week. :)

i'm in eastern washington also, but my little friends got here a couple weeks ago, late. they usually arrive in march. we had unusually warm winter, only intermittant freezes, so i was surprised at how late my hummers arrived. yesterday while out working i heard one doing it's mating song tho i didn't go look to watch the flight dance. but the oriols and hummers are all draining the feeders now and i'm looking forward to the fun show of young at feeders soon!

Here in SW Washington, we have Anna's Hummingbird all year long. They are larger and not as colorful as the ones I was accustomed to seeing on the E. coast and the SE US, such a treat anywhere, anytime.

I haven't seen any yet. I just love to watch them flutter about.

They show up here about April 10th - 15th. I need to refill the feeder. I have a large feeder and seems like a waste for the little bit they drink.
