My neighbor and I were talking last night. I mentioned I hadn't seen ONE hummingbird this year. She said she usually has a lot of them but she hadn't either, and neither has her friend. So what's up????????? Hopefully, they've just moved to a new neighborhood???!!! :(

I know I have 2 hummingbirds, one is so tiny and sits and eats, the other one is bigger and just hovers and flutters his wings. They are so cute, love to sit at the kitchen table and watch them.

I put out the feeder about 3 weeks ago and they are definitely coming, though I haven't seen as many this year as usual yet.

I'm having a problem with ants. I put some Vaseline on the metal pole the feeder is on and watched an ant cross right over it. My DH says I should have put it on a long stretch of the pole rather than gobbing it in one place. I've never done it before, so I didn't know quite how it was supposed to be done.

I have a hummingbird...perhaps more than one, but I only see one at the feeder at a time.

Kind of a funny thing happened yesterday....my husband was in a barn at his dad's house doing some work on a tractor/baler we haven't needed to have out yet this summer and he said he kept hearing a loud but low-sounding buzz. He thought maybe it was a big fly or a bee....next thing he knew, he had a hummingbird flying around him! I told him he should have grabbed it and brought it home to our feeder. Strange...he said that barn probably hasn't even been open this spring until yesterday.

I saw my first hummingbird about 4 weeks ago, I was looking out my living room window and it was flying around my windchime. I need to get a hummingbird feeder. I had a hummingbird feeder last year but bees got inside of it and was swarmed by other bees, had to throw it away.

I wonder what I can do so bees don't get inside of it? It is hanging on our front porch and couldn't sit out because of bees.

Craftybear.....I found this article...scroll down to the part about bees....says to take the YELLOW parts off the feeder because it attracts the bees! http://www.hummingbirds.net/feeders.html

Up in Washington state we've noticed several this year although we don't have a feeder. LOVE them!!
