I am at home today waiting for the delivery of my new long arm. I don't hear as well as I should so I am afraid to go upstairs and I definately can't do any sewing because I know I wouldn't hear the door with the machine going.

I could do some hand work but I don't WANT to. I want to take a nap but can't do that either!

How many YouTube videos can a person watch in a day? I've seen kittens and puppies and all sorts of quilting videos. The stock market isn't even open today so I could play or watch.

Whine! Whine! Whine!

Charlee 01-18-2010 01:42 PM

So hang out with us....and let us know when that machine arrives so we can celebrate with you!! :)

Grama Lehr 01-18-2010 01:42 PM

Lucky you!! To have such a dismal day. . . . waiting for a NEW LONG ARM, how tragic! Want to trade places????

barnbum 01-18-2010 01:43 PM

Sounds like me when I'm waiting for the vet. All I know is they'll be here "after 1:00." Today I didn't wait--I worked horses and was down the road with one when she pulled in. We hustled back, she didn't care if she had to wait a minute. :-D We no longer have a dog outside to sound the alarm when someone pulls in, so I keep quilts that need the binding sewed on in the library so I can look out the window to the driveway.

sunkistmi 01-18-2010 01:43 PM

I have a picture of you sitting on the couch tapping feet, stealing looks at the door, waiting.....waiting.....waiting. Contratulations on new machine.

thequilteddove 01-18-2010 01:46 PM

You get ur machine yet? Have we lost u 4ever 2 it??? lolol

pittsburgpam 01-18-2010 01:47 PM

I know... what a thing to whine about! My tolerance is almost at it's end and I'll start jumping in my skin any minute now.

I have a quilted pig here to repair and I sewed one patch on his leg but I just can't do any more!

QuiltMania 01-18-2010 01:48 PM

If hearing is an issue for you, you could check out the stuff at www.soundclarity.com. I'm sure they have something you could attach to your doorbell to flash the lights when the doorbell rings. That way you could be in your sewing room and know when someone is at your door. (Wouldn't help for today's delivery but good for the future.)

amma 01-18-2010 01:53 PM

I would be pacing a hole in the carpet LMBO
I can't wait to see your new set up :D:D:D
When I am expecting a delivery and want to sew, I have left the front door cracked open and a note on the storm door that says "I am sewing, please knock LOUDLY" :D:D:D

pittsburgpam 01-18-2010 01:54 PM

I'll even take pictures when it gets here (wonder if the delivery person will be a good looking man, see what it has driven me to... not that I need to be driven to think of good looking men...) Where was I? Oh, pictures. Yep, I'll take pictures.

Never thought of that about the door. I should take a look as I do this all the time, deliveries or not.

marsye 01-18-2010 01:58 PM

This is a holiday. Are you sure it will come today?

Don't say that!!! My heart literally skipped!

I've checked the tracking (multiple times) and it says today. I even got an automated phone call yesterday reminding me of the delivery today.

Honey 01-18-2010 02:02 PM

I'd be really antsy, too! I am when I'm waiting for fabric to arrive.

pittsburgpam 01-18-2010 02:05 PM

You know what would really improve customer service? Put on the tracking a delivery truck number and a GPS on the trucks. Click on the truck and find out where it actually is on a map!

It was "OUT FOR DELIVERY" at 5:30am from a town that's about 10 minutes away on the freeway.

JJs 01-18-2010 02:07 PM

boo hoo - and on top of that, the guy won't show up until almost 8:30 tonite......

pittsburgpam 01-18-2010 02:09 PM

If it's not until 8:30 tonight he better bring dinner and flowers because he'll have one hungry and angry woman meeting him at the door! :-P

Grama Lehr 01-18-2010 02:15 PM

Sounds like Southern Cal!! That would be so cool. I work with truck lines, and the trucks actually can be tracked that way. They just don't let you and I look at the website! They have most of the major truck lines hooked up to GPS, so the dispatchers can tell you exactly where the truck is located.

BKinCO 01-18-2010 02:16 PM

I was going to say the same thing~~~it'll probably be his last drop off for the day. That always seems to be my luck, when I'm waiting for something they don't show up til they are on their way home ;) Hopefully your new toy comes SOON!!!

Elisabrat 01-18-2010 02:36 PM

Bored out of your mind? howabout you borrow mine? maybe yours wont be so boring after all! I am cleaning an apartment for moving, washing baseboards, lightbulbs walls.. please feel free to get unbored over here. I will whip up some coffee for you and am glad to help with your problem anytime!

pittsburgpam 01-18-2010 02:48 PM

I imagine that he left the town 10 minutes away, drove out to the end of the road, so to speak, past my town and still be in the county, and will drop my packages off on his way back.

I can hardly get myself to clean my own house. :)

I haven't gone grocery shopping so I scrounged around and thawed hamburger while cooking it, put some hot sauce on it and heated tortillas for soft tacos. At least I'm not hungry anymore.

Oh stop - by then you will have used up all your pent up angst and you'll probably hug the guy from sheer relief and happiness.

In the spirit of old sayings: A watched pot won't boil or, as in your case: A watched tracker won't deliver. lol

Just wait... if I lay down to take a nap he'll come. I will go into the living room with a book and lay on the couch.

Uh huh!!! Now we know why your tracking him and over anxious! LMAO!!

Marjpf 01-18-2010 03:54 PM

The suspense is getting to me, too! Is he there yet?
You could always hum to yourself and dance around the room while your waiting.

Margie 01-18-2010 04:01 PM

I think he hung a right and is headed for my house in PA :)

Margie

pittsburgpam 01-18-2010 04:09 PM

IT'S HERE! IT'S HERE! I knew laying down on the couch would do it. He was a nice looking man who didn't hardly say a word and I only had eyes for my Queen.

Wow, they're heavy. I think I'm going to need to wait for my son to come over and help get it upstairs. I opened the boxes to check it and all looks ok so far.

I'm almost of a mind to set it up in the living room. I hardly ever use the room except to walk through from the front door to the family room/kitchen. The drawback with that is the sewing room is upstairs and that would get old quick, going up and downstairs between them.

marsye 01-18-2010 04:19 PM

The Queen... In all her glory. Well, almost.

At least I can read the manual for now.

pittsburgpam 01-18-2010 04:24 PM

No... I am as shy as he seemed to be.

Marjpf 01-18-2010 04:31 PM

I took mine out of the boxes and took up one piece at a time. Who needs a gym when they have a new machine and stairs! Congratulations! Enjoy!

I suppose I can do that. I need to wash the rails before I bring them in the house. They're filthy from the hardware store. I kind of don't want the cat messing with them in the garage where her box is either. I wouldn't put it past her to scratch on the wood or anything else.

littlehud 01-18-2010 06:26 PM

I know what you mean. The time would go so much faster if you could sew. Post a pic of that new machine when you get it.

Honey 01-18-2010 06:33 PM

I'm so happy for you! You won't be bored now. Have fun with your new best friend!

Shemjo 01-18-2010 06:40 PM

How exciting! What a wonderful rush when it finally arrived! Are you going to be able to sleep tonight!

pittsburgpam 01-18-2010 06:50 PM

I might be up late and I'm having a cup of coffee while reading the frame assembly directions. :-) I've got some of the frame upstairs. I texted with my son and he can come over Wed or Thurs. Don't want to try and carry the machine upstairs by myself and risk damaging it.

The LA came with a package with Superior Threads, a cone of white and a King Tut one, and other things in the bag. I read the packing list and it says there is a manual and a DVD. I don't see the DVD but haven't taken the LA out of the box.
