Vivian Ketron 07-22-2011 11:55 AM

Oh my, That gets expensive.

mom-6 07-22-2011 11:56 AM

So I'm not the only one, huh???

butterflies5518 07-22-2011 11:56 AM

I have only done that once, feeling your pain!

blossom808 07-22-2011 11:57 AM

OOO no.. My daughter's phone fell in the toilet. They say to put it into a bag a rice will help dry it out.

erstan947 07-22-2011 11:59 AM

I'm soooooo sorry:(

jmabby 07-22-2011 12:08 PM

What a shocker when you do something like that, sorry to hear you did that. I once took mine to a thrift shop donation. I was lucky, the shop found it, knew me and called and asked if I was missing something that rang.
Thank God for honest people

TonnieLoree 07-22-2011 12:08 PM

Sorry about that! At least you will have a reprieve from annoying phone calls for a while.

crafty_linda_b 07-22-2011 12:13 PM

Maybe it was an omen...it's time for a new phone...I think you may need to put a note on the laundry hamper to remind yourself or anyone else putting dirty laundry in there...CHECK POCKETS!! Sorry about that...crafty_linda_b

katyquilter 07-22-2011 12:14 PM

I washed my DH's cell phone once and it came out just fine - he said what else did you wash and I replied "your wallet" - he learned to empty his pockets before putting his pants in the laundry hamper :D :D

redkimba 07-22-2011 12:15 PM

LOL - that's why I tend to check my pants before they go in the wash. I have washed everything from post-it notepads to screwdrivers.

ssgramma 07-22-2011 12:15 PM

DH walked into the pool with his in his pocket then a few months later washed the new one.

FirstQuilt 07-22-2011 12:16 PM

I dropped phone in sinkful of water. Heated rice in bowl in microwave and shoved phone in. Kept heating rice for a day or more. Phone eventually worked!

Jeanniejo 07-22-2011 12:18 PM

That's one of the reasons I carry my cell phone in my bra, I never lose it and it falls out when I undress if I forget to take it out first !!

collady 07-22-2011 12:24 PM

My husband does our laundry. He checks the pockets and buttons shirts after he checks pockets. Jeans and shorts, he zips and buttons. We haven't washed anything we shouldn't since he started doing that!

Jim 07-22-2011 12:58 PM

My wife bought herself a nice EXPENSIVE new phone...after having it at home for two hours decided she didnt like it as well as she thought she would...and was gonna take it back...it was too late...she had already changed clothes and started the washer...yep with the nice new expensive phone in her pants pocket....needless to say..she couldnt take it back

DogHouseMom 07-22-2011 01:20 PM

Oh please let me stop laughing

(sorry)

heeheeheehee

PJisChaos 07-22-2011 01:20 PM

Wow, I admit that would be a new one round here. So sorry ya did that... 3 times even. LoL! Now I do run across razor blades all the time from my oldest son, for some reason he thinks washing them makes them work again. ^_^

Marcia D 07-22-2011 01:22 PM

At least it's clean! Does it smell clean?

ptquilts 07-22-2011 01:23 PM

hey, you won't be getting any dirty phone calls any more...

MOMBASIL53 07-22-2011 01:33 PM

Really you are not stupid.......I bet if you asking how many times people haved dropped thirs in the toilet I think you will be surprised. Don't be so hard on yourself

moonwork42029 07-22-2011 01:56 PM

arghh...can't say I have done that...will watch out though

Ramona Byrd 07-22-2011 01:58 PM

We went to the beach once, long ago, and my 6 or so year old son saw a man walking into the water wearing an obviously expensive watch. He reminded the guy about it, the man thanked DS nicely.

THEN HE TOOK OFF THE WATCH AND PUT IT IN HIS SWIMMING SUIT POCKET!!! And went on into the water.

DS just stood there with his mouth open......

People is people, all over the world.

Lindsey 07-22-2011 02:06 PM

try putting it in a bowl filled with rice. My grand daughter has dropped hers in the water more times and thats what she did. worked.

Snorky Lvs2Quilt 07-22-2011 02:13 PM

My DH had his cell phone in his shirt pocket and leaned over the pool to check the chlorinator and the phone fell into the pool....DOH!! I told him to use the hair dryer on it and hope for the best. It eventually started working again....whew.

Glassquilt 07-22-2011 02:21 PM

Ooo - that hurts.
I check pockets and keep any money as a laundry fee. :) There's not that much. :(

Kitsie 07-22-2011 02:57 PM

Oh well, no more dirty phone calls! ;-) ;-)

Oops, sorry ptquilter got that one in first!

put some rice in a bowl and lay phone will help it

ann31039 07-22-2011 03:51 PM

my mom does that alot! she doesnt do anything with the phones other than talk so i started buying used phones in lots from ebay. since she doesn't text or do pictures or anything.

Stitchit123 07-22-2011 03:55 PM

I have done this a" few" times -the last time it actually made it to the dryer after 30 minutes it was dry no wrinkles and it still works perfectly and there is no loss of memory mine was a cheapy pd.$30 and got it back on a rebate Best $30 I never spent

hopetoquilt 07-22-2011 05:03 PM

I bought a clip for the phone and keep it clipped on my pants. Works well.

when I worked for a cell phone company, I heard about putting a wet phone in a bag of rice. That is not always the best thing to do because then the rice gets wet and so the phone is still wet, too. Take off the back and then take out the battery. open the phone and just let it air dry until you can't see any moisture in the screen. If there is moisture in the screen, there is still water inside. The phone may or may not work but you won't know until it completely dry. Also DO NOT use a hair dryer of put it on the dash board of a car to dry out. Many of the electronic components are glued on. The water and heat will weaken or even melt the glue and your phone is toast then.

alikat110 07-22-2011 05:40 PM

That sure is a lot of "o" 's on so....don't be so hard on yourself!

ktyree 07-23-2011 03:01 AM

I never put my phone in my pocket- prevents those kinds of things. I did however, wash my grandson's phine, he left it in his pocket. Wash was half done when he asked about it. I stopped the washer, got it out, we let it sit overnight, and it worked in the morning. a cheapo trac phone!

debcavan 07-23-2011 03:17 AM

You and thousands of other people. My friend dropped hers in the toilet, a public toilet

barri1 07-23-2011 04:02 AM

I dropped mine in the toilet once, and it was a major problem, as I was at a conference..
I felt traumatized.. and helpless..

MaryAnnMc 07-23-2011 05:25 AM
