That is definitely a scam. They use that sometimes selling cars on CL.

Be sure to report this to Craig's list............

We got the same letter when we put a futon on Craigslist. The man was persistant, called us, said a "van would be by to pick up the item and the cash" after we cashed his check. We called the State Police and never heard from them again.

If these people would actually put that creativity into a real job, the world would be better.

I had one very like that. I ignored and they finally went away

I love ptquilts replay as a way to handle it. It definitely sounds like a scam to me. It's terrible that people create these scams to bilk people out of not only their money, but their item for sale as well.

I got the almost exact reply several years ago when I advertised a horse for sale. There are some strange scams out there. Sadly we must be constantly on guard.

I've seen that one before.

People should be wise to them by now.

I hope you turned them into craigslist also

My daughter is a Stamping Up dealer and a woman from back east tried to pull a similar trick. She sent her an order via email with a promise of continued purchases.

Even before she got the crazy check scam info my daughter told me that she just did not feel comfortable about this person. One thing I always taught my kids was to follow their gut instincts. I guess my daughter is pretty good at it.l

It is definitely a scam. I had one like this and when I contacted the bank, the account was a fraud. In this case, you would lose out on whatever amount the check was for. Glad you realized it was fake.
