My mother had beautiful skin and never used soap. She used a wash cloth and warm water and once-in-a-while some oatmeal. She said it was all the water she drank. She passed away 2 years ago at 94, and still had a great figure.

I use Anew products from Avon and am very pleased with them. Have been using for a few years now.

I'm lucky to have good skin. I grew up in hot, dry San Joaquin Valley in California and got lots of sun. I've never been one to wear makeup on my skin. A little lipstick now and then, but not foundation or other pore cloggy stuff.
I'm 64 and other than smile wrinkles, I think my skin is really good. Heredity does have a lot to do with it, but my sisters didn't all get the good skin genes. I just keep my face clean, I use a exfoliating glove to wash it, a gentle one. I don't use soap on my face. Just a lotion with aloe in it when it feels dry. |
I got a couple of products last summer that I have been happy with. For years I didn't use much of anything and I didn't wear much makeup. My daughter made an attempt to gently take the tomboy out of me.
for cleansing: http://www.peterthomasroth.com/p-102...nsing-gel.aspx for moisturizing at night: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P241732 Not sure the price is worth it, but since I didn't have anything I had used to compare, they seem to be doing something positive. Nancy |
deceided to stop using soap in my face, I use the Oly facial wash and Oly moisutrizer

My mother in law uses Ponds to remove make up and Merle Norman's Aqua Lube at night. She has very dry skin but you wouldn't know it. Her skin is beautiful! I started using the Ponds at night to remove make up and put a little more on to moisturize. Every other day I use baking soda to scrub my face and body clean. It takes off all those dead skin cells. Sometimes for a special treat I massage my face with caster oil for a few minutes then put a hot cloth on my face and clean it off.

Just a thought.....when we moisturize, why do we wash our faces, then dry our faces completely? I used to, but then I started daubbing (not drenching) a little water on my face and neck before using my moisturizer. That makes it go on easier, and you don't have to use as much, plus you're putting water back on your skin UNDER the moisturizer, making it soak in better. People also say I don't look my age (almost 54). LOL Maybe they're saying I look older?

I use Pond's, have for years, and my 95 yr old grandma did, though she really only looked 80.
It's all basically genetics and staying out of the sun. I do not know how to treat sun damage (it's funny, I wrote Pons first, this is a quilting board after all LOL) |

Used to use Mary Kay but a few years back they changed all their formulations and I couldnt use it any longer. Alot of it is genetics and like the previous poster said life style. |
I LOVE "Clean 'n Clear" daily facial scrub. A facialist recommended it to me many years ago and I still use it. The price? About $4!!!
