Took the 6 year old grandson to his friend's birthday party (leaving to go to Chuckie Cheese in Binghamton - 1 hour away) and the 3 year old came in the house with me. Got chatting with the parents about the party, upcoming school year, and finally giving directions to my house so they could bring GS home, I got in the car and headed home. Only to realize about 4 blocks away that I had forgotten to put the 3 year old in the car. I called the house, only to get a busy tone. I turned around, so embarrassed, but laughing all the way (must be that age thing), rang the doorbell and there was the mom, who could hardly speak because of HER laughter. She finally said that she would have taken him as well, but I would have to leave a car seat for him. Talk about breaking the ice to make friends. I had better stick to quilting instead of taxi service.

I've heard things like that are why Grandma's aren't moms. When I had my dd at 45 someone sent me a joke about an older woman that had a baby. I don't remember all of it but it was something about some friends coming to see her and wanting to see the new baby. She said, "In a minute." Every 10 or 15 minutes they remind her that they want to see the baby and she keeps saying, "In a minute." Finally one of her friends asked if she was trying to avoid showing them her child for some reason. She answered, "No, I laid her down for a nap, forgot where I put her and I figure soon she'll wake up and I'll hear her cry."

I'm one of 11 and on Sundays Mom would pack up some of us in the car for church and Dad would come later in the pickup after finishing chores with whoever was left over!LOL Well one Sunday we all got home and were sitting down to Sunday dinner and the pastor called and asked if we had everyone accounted for. It too my mom a few minutes to figure it out as we all go here and there on the farm! Boy, the congregation never to this day has let Mom live that one down. Must be why I only had two!!

Years ago MIL friend had 9 kids and was always going home after church without 1 kid. I couldn't understand why she didn't count heads.
