DH and I have been getting their offers to join for years. I just don't think I need to join another organization just to say I belong to it.I am busy enough with the groups I do belong to!! I do know AARP has a huge building in DC.

Per my post above, one of my posts was missing from the board and somehow my name became associated with someone else's post on health insurance.
So let me try to recreate the missing post. Loretta, I think I said that 50-70 as middle age is fine with me! Beverly, I said even though it had started as joking, you got me thinking about how people through the centuries have made gifts to offer their gods and kings, etc., and I wondered what kind of designs someone might choose for a quilt being made as a gift or offering or for some sacred function. I was kind of opening it up to anyone who found it an intriguing idea. Patrice, I've read the rules post and fully understand about not getting into political and religious debates. My musing above isn't intended to promote or denounce any religion or religious belief. Given the number of threads and posts about Christmas quilting projects, I take it that it's fine to mention it, as long as it doesn't become a discussion of what's right and wrong. By the way, I'm Jewish and have it in the back of my mind to one day do some quilts on Jewish themes. Probably not as offerings or anything sacred, though. |

lately, when i try to quote, the text gets all mixed up. i suppose it could be me, but i much prefer to blame the computer. :lol: i'm glad you understand, lisanne. some people either don't understand or prefef to ignore the policy. the explanation of your intent puts your question in a different - and permissable - direction. a conversation about the quilted objects is quite different to injecting religion itself. we don't want to take this thread off-topic, though, so perhaps a separate thread would be a better idea. |

yes, joan, it may have already turned political. BUT if we (and that "we" definitely includes me) return to the intended conversation about age and perceptions, we can safely continue with humor and mutually beneficial information.
