Ouchie mommas gas just jumped 20 cents a gallon here in Basehor, Kansas. At the first of the week (Monday) it was 3.17 a gallon and now it is 3.37 a gallon. Man everything is going to go sky high.

Fill up fast gal!

Judie 03-02-2011 02:44 PM

In our town when the prices go up, they go up all over town in about 5 mintues.. We went from $3.19 to $3.29 today.. I think they are all connnected on the net somehow because you can't ever beat the price change around town. All the stations go out in the same few minutes and up the price.. coming down, its a bit slower..

The thing that gets me is that it went up 20¢ a gallon today and it can easily go up another 15¢ or 20¢ tomorrow.. Once the prices start to climb you can hardly keep pace.

Kimkankwilt 03-02-2011 03:06 PM

$3.75 In So. Cal....ouch

Lindsey 03-02-2011 03:19 PM

Rabs 03-02-2011 07:53 PM

I paid 3.33 last night, this afternoon it was up to 3.59....now seriously, what happened that made it jump over 20 cents in a few hours???? Ridiculous!

NanaCsews2 03-02-2011 07:58 PM

A yard of fabric can be had for cheaper than a gallon of gas, and we get more mileage out of it.

That is a good point and uplifting at the same time.

I have heard of credit card companies having a limit at the pump. It makes no sense to me to stop the pump. Like you said you can finish elsewhere.

For me, it's not my card - we use the debit card, no credit (and I know my bank doesn't cut me off at the pump). It's Shell and Exxon that do it. Not sure if anyone else does but those are our primary gas stations we go to. I don't know if it's the company itself or the individual franchisers.....either way it's kinda stupid IMO - it's like they are trying to regulate the gas I get but I still use the same amount - I either fill up elsewhere or come back another day.....still the same IMO.

Hi,

You should check with the sales clerk on their procedures. This is an automatic feature built into the pumps for sales security protection. The sales clerk on duty should be able to over-ride the automatic stop allowing you to finish filling your gas tank.

This is done for utility type trucks that have two tanks that need to be filled. Also large rv's also have large gas tanks.

Hope this helps with your next fill-up.

Have a Great Day!

Dodee 03-03-2011 05:46 AM

I heard on tv that it could go up to $5.00 per gallon.
People won't be able to go out and shop - you see what is happening to our economy.

delma_paulk 03-03-2011 05:46 AM

Ours increased again today to $3.59

GRRRRR

akrogirl 03-03-2011 05:55 AM

Ironically, I don't normally have to do much driving, but I have had doctors' appointments almost every day for the past few weeks and it isn't going to get much better for the next five months. Great timing - not!

stephanie765 03-03-2011 06:05 AM

3.65 in west michigan

sandpat 03-03-2011 06:27 AM

AWK!!!! This is driving me crazy! It goes up EVERY day! Like they pay for a new shipment each day.

The $75. cut off has to do with the level that you must sign for...I think. They told me that they can run through a slip for under $75...but if over, they must have the card holders siggy..its all about security. I just go in and ask them to over-ride and they always do.

catmcclure 03-03-2011 06:47 AM

It's over $4 here in California

Yes, European countries have always paid much higher gas prices than us.

Every year gas companies raise prices in summer for vacation travel. Last July in Omaha area it was $4.47!

Time to quit of making people so rich with foreign oil and use solar, biofuels, electricity etc. We have had the technology for over 40 years but when their big money is at stake few politicians want to change.

pocoellie 03-03-2011 07:14 AM

It's $3.86 here

Tussymussy 03-03-2011 07:30 AM

Sorry you are all hurting from the gas prices. Just be glad you are not in the UK. We have to buy in litres. Doing a complex calculation it means that a gallon costs us £6.05 or $9.85! It is really hurting.

As a consequence our food prices are shooting up daily.

sewhat540 03-03-2011 07:30 AM

Just a thought as our gas here is 3.69 today, but for the thought let's start using our own gas, at least, we will know where it is coming from.

grannypat7925 03-03-2011 09:13 AM

I was at the grocery this morning and it is amazing how much prices there have jumped.......right along with the gas.

Marylynne 03-03-2011 09:43 AM

3.23 here last night and an hour later 3.29

Lori S 03-03-2011 09:50 AM

We hit are over $4.00 in Chicago! Its painful.. I had arleady limited my trips down to once a week and have a home office. Not sure how much lower I reduce my consumption.
I just feel bad for those who have to comute to work every day and it not like wages are going up.

patski 03-03-2011 09:55 AM

It's $3.55 here for regular

DirtyPaw 03-03-2011 10:00 AM

It is ugly all over the world as far as I can tell. It is only cheap in countries where gas is subsidized by their government, like Iran. They pay about 25 cents a gallon there and if I recall they can not produce gas or something like that.

They say it is high now due to unrest in the Middle East. It has been in a state of unrest for 1000 of years, go figure.

Blessings to all...
