I have insomnia. How about you?

Since we don't have an option for a chat room and there won't be, I thought I'd try this.

I'm up almost every morning between 3 or 4. Have to make sure DH gets his thyroid med and then I'm up for the day. He goes back to bed. I check this forum to see what's new and notice there are other early birds, too.

So, anyone want to post as if this IS a chat room? Same rules will apply that other threads abide by. We'll see if moderators will allow this.

Julienm1 03-06-2021 03:00 AM

Tapping my fingers hoping someone will post.

Noticed I should be getting two packages today of MUCH NEEDED quilting supplies. (Yeah right!) Just trying to continue to support the economy.

Fizzle 03-06-2021 03:55 AM

morning!
Got up at 3 to take out the puppy and never did get back to sleep. Finally got up and got some coffee.

Fizzle 03-06-2021 03:57 AM

I am trying to organize and NOT buy more but its hard! There are so many things out there we just need!!!

Julienm1 03-06-2021 03:59 AM

Dh takes pill. I take coffee! I remember puppy days.
Need to finish this small quilt today and glue baste three others. Hate basting. What's your plan for today?

Julienm1 03-06-2021 04:02 AM

Oh Fizzle I know. I'm sewing for Project Linus and found cute panels with individual masks. Yep, ordered 3 to cut and sew into quilts for kids. Shhhh don't tell DH

lberna 03-06-2021 04:49 AM

A week ago, we got our 2nd Covid vaccination. I can’t tell you the relief I feel. We still have to wear a mask when we go out but that’s not a big deal to us. We are elderly and we just want to hug our children and g'children again. We want to feel safe again when we eat inside a restaurant which we haven’t done in a year. We received the Moderna vaccine and we had few mild side effects. So incredibly happy.

pocoellie 03-06-2021 04:50 AM

I'm up by 4:30 but do a couple things before I get on the 'net, sometimes I'm up quite a bit earlier, sometimes at 2, but that's because I have an early transport and in that case I don't get on the 'net.

Julienm1 03-06-2021 04:55 AM

Iberna, here in NM the county where you live determines when you get your shot. Buddy in adjoining CITY just had his second shot, we're the same age and still waiting to get the first shot. DH wants the one and done since he won't travel for business until he gets it.

lberna 03-06-2021 05:46 AM

Julienm1, here it’s by occupation, age, medical reasons, etc. We were in the second group, 70 years and older. Now, it’s 65 years and older and educators.

Tartan 03-06-2021 06:02 AM

If I have a nap during the day, I can’t sleep at night. I usually get 6-7 hours sleep a night and when my back starts to hurt, I get up.

juliasb 03-06-2021 10:49 AM

I got my first vaccine this morning. DH got his 2 weeks ago. We both registered at the same time. We had to go to different locations of the same St. Joe's system. He in one city I in another. Both about the same distance from home.
I have not been sleeping the last 3 days. We go to bed early but I did not sleep at all the night before last, I was up until about 4am last night. I just tried to take a nap and failed. I am hoping to get some sleep tonight. Only time will tell. Right now I feel like a bit of a zombie sitting here. and it is going on 2pm.

I take thyroid meds but never was told to take them that early. I take it when I have my morning coffee. The only reason I was told to take it in the morning was because I take another pill in the evening that doesn't mix all that great with it. I have frequent insomnia at night but once I do go to sleep I sleep 8 to 9 hours, sleeping late in the mornings.

My husband takes synthroid for his thyroid. It’s to be taken on an empty stomach. No tea or coffee at least half hour, preferably 1 hour after the synthroid. You might want to look into this as your med may not be effective if you are taking it with coffee.

Julienm1 03-06-2021 02:25 PM

Janie, same for my DH and has to wait 4 hours before taking tums for calcium.

JanieW 03-06-2021 02:37 PM

Yes, Julie. Synthroid is very anti social; it doesn’t like to mix with anything! I’m lucky as our puppy needs out most mornings at 6. My husband takes her out and then has his pill.

Onebyone 03-06-2021 03:11 PM

I take Synthroid too. I go to a specialist twice a year to get thyroid levels checked. So far everything has been in the ideal range for me. My first Dr said empty stomach but could never get my levels stabilized. The specialist had to adjust the synthroid several times and said he didn't care when I took it as long as it didn't interfere with other meds. Drs. should get on the same page! Who do you believe?

Quiltwoman44 03-06-2021 03:23 PM

I refuse to get up at 3 a.m. but do at 5 a.m. some days. trying to go back to sleep is almost impossible. Lately i've been thinking of Climate Change and that is depressing. sort of like today.

same here in minnesota. They are going to open it up to below 65 soon. I got my first and will be getting my second in a week or so. Just checked about 25% of the residents in my county have gotten at least the first dose. We have a lot of health care people so I think that accounts for some of them. The county that Mayo clinic is in has vaccinated about 30% of their folks.

Another early(?) riser here. If I wake up at night I can pretty much guarantee it will be after about 4 hours sleep.... Usually I can go right back to bed and sleep but not always. Not as often as before I had the CPAP machine. It used to go in spurts then 5 years ago between my ill health and DH's I used to tell the medical professionals that I had to get up at 3 a.m. to battle "the demons".....
DD just told me today that she is losing her roommate in May so will be looking for another place to live.. in this housing market who knows where she will end up. But it won't be with me as I'm in a seniors complex so she's not old enough to live here... she's too far from work and doesn't drive. She had two part-time jobs at minimum age so I'm back in "mom - fretting stage"...
But otherwise.... I have a set routine of reading the news and such online, check out the comics and then back to bed after about an hour and a half. Sometimes i get my desk cleared off... for some reason it goes better at night.
Waiting for my vaccine....

Julienm1 03-07-2021 02:45 AM

Waiting for DH to get up so I can make coffee noise in kitchen. Oh the first cup is the best...until I have the second. If he's not up in 10 min off the the kitchen I go. Coffee noise will wake him up...lol
Today will machine quilt PL top and should have it ALL done by tomorrow and then start the second. I think I have 3 tops waiting for me.

Mkotch 03-07-2021 03:46 AM

You caught me on a rare day when I slept until 6. I was up at 3:30 but managed to go back to sleep. My insomnia happens after sleeping about 15-20 minutes. Then I'm up for an hour or so before falling back asleep. Weird!

Fizzle 03-07-2021 03:49 AM

Morning Julienm1! Are we up this morning?

Julienm1 03-07-2021 03:52 AM

Yes I am! Getting ready to quilt on my DSM

Fizzle 03-07-2021 03:54 AM

I am like you in that I try to be quiet in the morning so hubby can sleep! He says the smell of coffee wakes him but some days I just don’t wait!

Julienm1 03-07-2021 03:56 AM

I really miss CHAT like I had on a dif forum that is no longer up and running but Patricia said won't happen. So this will have to do.

Fizzle 03-07-2021 03:58 AM

Pearl, my puppy Yorkie, slept in until 4;15 (which is actually not true as we were up at 2). But we also have a couple skunks out back so this morning after she did her potty break I took her back in and went for my phone and tried to get some pictures. I am not sure my hubby believes there are skunks here as he never sees them! So I got a grainy crappy video and then another showed up. So I did get some pictures...

Fizzle 03-07-2021 03:58 AM

Didn’t there used to be CHAT on this?

Julienm1 03-07-2021 03:59 AM

I have acid reflex so have to be careful re lots of foods and coffee was a trigger for me. DH did research and we makes what we call coffee syrup but is really cold brewed coffee. So in AM I make a cup of coffee and that makes just enough noise to wake him up. Light from the kitchen stirs the wild haired beast too.

Julienm1 03-07-2021 03:59 AM

Fizzle...yes there was and it was great

Fizzle 03-07-2021 04:02 AM

My sis spent most of yesterday here with me cleaning and folding fabric. Boy, you really never know how much you have until then!
‘Getting ready for some sewing furniture and I bought a new HQ long arm! Have to move out some stuff and traded in my old longarm so they will take it when they deliver new set up. So excited!!! Now when I wake at 4 I can go sew!

Julienm1 03-07-2021 04:03 AM

Bad girl here. Ordered a panel from Quilted Twins. Panel is 28 dif face masks that I will cut apart and make a couple quilts. Let get a link... https://www.quiltedtwins.com/shop/c/...-x54010335.htm

Fizzle 03-07-2021 04:03 AM

Man, some days you just can’t win, am I right!

We got a cold brew pot for Christmas but have not tried it yet.

Julienm1 03-07-2021 04:04 AM

Oh Fizzle so exciting for you! Do you take orders?

Julienm1 03-07-2021 04:06 AM

We don't use a pot. DH grinds 3 thingees of beans, dumps into quart mason jar, fills with water, shake it to death couple times a day, strains, stores in frig. Coffee is so smooth. No bitterness at all.

Fizzle 03-07-2021 04:06 AM

I like that ~If you can read this ~. I have done two panels of masks for the kids. Cute and easy.

How will you make tour quilt? Just cut and add sashing?

Julienm1 03-07-2021 04:09 AM

Have 2 other panels ready to be washed so plan to cut them apart and sash. For Project Linus. Hope to get at least 3 quilts if not 4.. add wonky blocks to go with them.

Fizzle 03-07-2021 04:10 AM

That’s interesting. My DH says fresh ground irritates his skin. Maybe that way it would not?

No to the orders. I am fairly new. Just took a class at shop and we used their computer and it was so user friendly! I was not one bit interested in purchasing. Just wanted to get better on my current machine. I guess I talked about it a lot? cause my husband bought it for me!

Julienm1 03-07-2021 04:13 AM

Do you have a LA business?

Fizzle 03-07-2021 04:13 AM

One thing I discovered as I am cleaning has been several, panels. Was thinking soon as I get settled of making some donations and clearing them out. They have specific requests for their donations?

it sounds like you make a lot of donation quilts?
