apple.

i cook dinner every night for my husand to take to work the next day. (he works 12 hour days.)

i am just not in the mood right now to try to figure it out for WW!
now if i can just get through the evening without blowing it! snacking is my down fall. my DIL said to have microwave popcorn, lite butter..i forgot to get some!

newquilter10 03-29-2011 04:23 PM

I am a WW meeting member and use e-tools on line. I am having trouble with the new program as I was used to the old Points system. When I get home from the valley and get to my own meetings I am sure my wonderful leader will get me on the right track.

it explains why the changes and how they stopped counting calories as equal...carbohydrates are weighted heavier now thats why the points have gone up on those but they also give us more points per day , plus we have the extra 49 a week to use. And fruit is free now. I've been pretty steadily losing 2 lbs a week since New Years but I write EVERYTHING down, and I do the Leslie Sansone DVD's several times a week, just one or 2 miles per day..its all you need to rev up the loss. I just re-signed up for the next 3 months online. Also for those of you who don't mind installing another browser on your computer, called Opera, there's a widget that you can download of just the point calculator that I keep on my desktop when I need a quick point value and I'm not on the WW website. Let me know if anyone wants the link to that. You don't have to use the Opera browser, just say no to be the default browser if it asks during the installation, but it just needs to be on the computer in order for the calculator to work. C'mon quilters! We sit too much between the boards and sewing . We need this!! With all the support around here, I know we can lose a lot of weight together. I still have another 24 lbs to lose so I'll be here for awhile too :)

What is the link? I joined online last week. The calculator is about the only thing I really use. I followed the old point system and lost the weight, but put it back on when I had knee surgery and couldn't keep up with the exercise.

Norva 03-29-2011 07:11 PM

I do WW meetings - needed the weigh-in discipline. Lost 50lb's and have kept it off for nearly two years. The program works. Good luck.

Elizabeth-Liz 03-29-2011 07:15 PM

I joined March 2nd. I am doing the $39.99 a month which gives me unlimited meetings and website. I have lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks. I find the website confusing, but trying to use it. So far I have not started exercise, but plan to when I get my new puppy. I am getting a Great Pyrenees and he will need lots of exercise.

I'm a lifetime member from 1979...
I quit going when they made me start paying because I was pregnant and "over the 2 lb" limit...
I found that an unhealthy attitude about eating healthy and staying health during pregnancy...
I then join with my dd in 1995 when she was 15 and was having trouble with weight loss... They accused her of cheating because she wasn't losing... Went to the dr. and she had a sleep disorder that was playing havoc with her metabolism...
I'm not a great fan of ww. to say the least

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. YAY ALL OF YOU. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
Now, just consider them going up and down.

Hi Connie, good for you! I use sugar in my tea ...everyday I add 4 pts for 3 cups of tea per day for the sugar, its 1 pt for 1 tbsp and 3 pts for a cup of l% milk. Watch the diet soda because even though its no sugar or points, the sweetness does make you crave more sweetness. I drink Crystal light iced tea but alternate it with plain water. Best of luck, we CAN do this! Oh and give Leslie Sansone
Walk at home a try. heres some you tube links, you can do along with that to see if you like it.

i found a coupon for "truvia" , i love home brewed sweet tea, drink it all year.
as soon as this last 2 quarts are gone, i will make it with the truvia.

Should i start a new thread for WW and quilters? i don't think i can change the title of this one..

i feel so good! i just got back from the pool, spent 45 minutes, just walking back and forth, then hit the hot tub to loosen up the muscles, the fibro gets wicked if i don't!
i think my weigh ins are Sundays.

bobbie1 03-30-2011 05:06 AM

I joined WW in Feb and have lost 11 pounds. I get the monthly membership which comes to $9.95 a week. I go to the meetings every week. Really had a hard time this week..don't know what happened to me.. so looking forward to meeting so I can get back on track. Nice to go to meetings and hear from others. Then you are reminded you are not alone and others have same problems. Like this new program as all fruits and vegetables are free...well..a few have points but majority is free. Once you get the hang of it, so much better program than before.

BMP 03-30-2011 06:29 AM

I think we should share some our WW friendly recipes and tips here...I for one need some new things to make for meals.

Ann Simon 03-30-2011 12:36 PM

I joined on the 8 of March. I have lost 10.4. I am going to meeting and keeping up with on line. I'm almost 58 and have never been thin and just once I would like to be able to buy any clothes I want. DH joined also and he is also successful.

I joined Weight Watchers at Work, although it's not really at work, it's run through our home owners association. We rec'd 12 weeks of on-line WW with our membership. We have a great leader, a fun group. I'm doing well so far, but must admit weighing and measuring can get tiresome. It's mainly taught me portion control and to think before I grab anything from the fridge even if I'm not hungry. Good luck with the program.

This is a great idea. I don't have time right now, but have a great WW recipe called stuffed pepper soup that is really good - I make it freqently. Will try to post it tomorrow. Our leader sends us recipes via email, and our WW group is also very sharing :)

Gizzy-Girl 03-30-2011 02:17 PM

I don't belong to WW, too much $$ for me. But I did go check out SparkPeople.com and this may be the thing I need to get motivated. I joined a gym last month, but have only gone twice a week. Finally the rain stopped here in Sacramento, so going for my workout in an hour. I would love to see some recipes....

WW Recipe for stuffed pepper soup

1 lb. lean ground beef, browned (I used ground turkey)
1 onion, chopped
1 can (14.5 oz.) tomatoes, chopped
1 can beef broth (I used chicken broth)
1 lg. can tomato soup (26 oz.)
2 cups water
1 cup brown rice, uncooked
1 tsp. garlic
Salt and pepper to taste
Bring contents to boil. Let simmer for 30 to 45 minutes. Add more water if soup gets too thick. Makes 8 cups, 6 points per cup.

Bring contents to boil. Let simmer 30 to 45 minutes. Add more water if soup gets too thick. Serves 8.

OMG, I forgot the peppers! Also 2 to 3 green, red and/or yellow peppers, chopped.

Sounds really good, I love soups.

glassnquilts 03-30-2011 06:43 PM

I have been thinking about joining WW but I am not a good record keeper. I don't want to have to count or write down everything. Is this the wrong program for me? I joined about 15 years ago and gained weight on it. Kind of makes me hesitant.

My recipe for this is a tad different but in the end probably tastes the same, I make it often.

I joined about 3 years ago & have kept off about 46 lbs......problem is I want to lose and keep off about 8 more lbs!

But, WW is the best eating plan.

Remember, you never graduate from WW, it is a lifetime commitment!

Some of my classmates and I go out to eat every week after our meeting!

I joined WW in June of 2009 and reached my goal weight in March of 2010. I have now lost a total of 96 lbs and have plenty of freedom with what I eat. Counting is a bit of a pain, but go by a meeting and get a calculator. I take it to the grocery store with me.

When you get home, put the points plus values on the boxes, containers, etc and you'll never have to figure it out again.

It's OK to 'cheat' on occasion just not every day!

I don't think I could have done this on-line. I get so much support from my group meeting not to mention some fantastic recipies, new brands or snacks that others have discovered, etc.

Hang in there and keep tracking, it will get easier!

Peggy

::smacks forehead:: I need to do that when I shop. I want to get some crackers for when I have soup. I keep meaning to look up point value for stuff but don't think about it until I get to the store. Great tip!

I've been thinking about this & how to respond. The hardest part is learning to track what you eat. WW has changed the program so that most veggies & fruit is zero points. Give it a try.

WW assigns points to stuff so that you can track not only what you eat but how much you eat. If you are on the computer, you can use the on-line stuff. They also offer a weekly mini-diary that fits easily into a purse.

BMP 04-01-2011 10:56 AM

Pizza is one of the hardest to make point friendly but I found something new to me at the grocery store and experimented.
I bought Artisan Ovens original flatbreads made by Arnold, put some sauce on it with some veggie topping and low fat mozzarella cheese (I used WW because I had it in the frig) Baked it on a cookie sheet at 450* for approx 7-10 min. It was very good and with a salad it was a good meal.

Elizabeth-Liz 04-10-2011 02:47 PM

I go weigh in tomorrow, and I hope I have not gained weight. I have watched my points, but not sure how I have done. Sunday's are hard for me.

BMP 04-10-2011 05:48 PM

I have been point on for 3 weeks but today was family BDay and I had what I wanted including cake. I am sure I wont be losing this week.

One slice of cake will not make you gain weight even if you had ice cream with it. Just get back on program with the next meal and keep on tracking!

Some weeks you don't lose weight not matter how 'good' you've been. That's perfectly normal, don't get discouraged.

For those doing WW online........do you get any of the materials you would get by going to the meetings? I am wondering how difficult it would be to have to look something up online instead of having a booklet to carry with you. I am not sure how it works online. I used to do the WW before they had the Points System and you had to exchange food groups. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
