Good for you! A great accomplishment!!

Congrats! to you. I finished nursing school when I was 32 and it was a good time. Yet I missed out on a lot with the family. My oldest was 5 and my baby was only 2 months. Thankful my mom was able to take care of them. I also learned how to draw blood. I was pretty good at drawing the elderly pt. I know you went though many a difficult times but non the less you were successful. Happy for you. Rosalia

Congrats for your great accomplishment! Way to go!!!

Who says you have to grow up? Life is so much more interesting if you can do what you want, not what other people want you to do. Have fun!

Congrats!!!

Congratulations on a job well done...

Good for you, congratulations. My 40 something daughter did the same thing and is now a certified nursing assistant in Portland, ME.

Congratulations!!

Check out blood banks. They/we're always hunting for new blood workers. and most of us/them are older workers. Seems that a lot are grandparents.
|
Good for you and you can almost write your own check now.
|
When Daddy has to have blood drawn he says he's "going to see the vampire". The lady just laughs at him
|
Great job !!! plus I hope you get one soon :-D

I got my "Phleb" certification in 2000 (also 49 yrs old) - before that I worked in vet medicine for 25 years so I had lots of "poking" practice prior to switching over to people. I worked in a our local hospital for 9 years. It's NEVER BORING.. but one profession where you can look like an ACE one night...and a FOOL the next. Learn to forgive yourself if you have an off night. Even the best used to struggle occasionally.
Job shadow someone who's SEASONED at drawing OB/PEDS. Those will be your toughest challenge once you're in the trenches, but once you master drawing newborns.. you can draw anyone. AND.. MOST KIDS have a decent antecubital vein. So.. train yourself to look for it. Congrats on your new profession! I hated desk jobs too... |
Here's a "high-five" and a big "atta-girl" for you. Congratulations! I went to school to get various degrees in education from 1960 till 2000. You're never too old to keep on going to school.
