I donated some scraps to a school. Some kids can't afford the fabric. I rec'd a nice thank you note.

Someone on this board would have loved to have it.

This just plain struck my funny bone! She lives on a dairy farm and didn't know the difference between male and female cows? I bet that made your day.

I thought all cows are female bovines and males are bulls. I'm a city girl from childhood but now a country girl but I can't imagine anyone as stupid and unobservant as that lady. I suppose if someone asked me a question about particle physics I would come across as dumb as she is. May we assume that she has never had a baby? Probably couldn't figure out how to make that happen.

Next time maybe you could bag them in smaller bags, I would gladly pay for shipping

I have used CL to list garage sales with great success. Not so much success for individual items.
CL lurkers can be a mite creepy, yet I met a wonderful woman opening a tailoring shop. She purchased an antique tailors iron from me, we had a wonderful chat.

Hard to believe it didn't go right away especially being free. Very generous of you.

I also teach sewing and my students leave behind their fabric all the time so I had that stuff as well. I had mostly cottons, but also poly cottons, home deco, flannel, and a small amount of specialty fabrics.

I filled two 30 gal garbage bags a little more than half full - fabric is heavy! - and listed it and believe it or not, had a devil of a time getting rid of it!!

I was clear about where I lived but people kept calling that were 45 min. to an hour away. The first person never picked it up, the second person called and cancelled, the third person gave me her boyfriend's cellphone number, when I called he was at a restaurant (not with her) 10 minutes from my house but didn't want to drop by on his way home and pick it up (he said he'd have her call me).

I finally sent out emails to the rest of the people that responded (when I got 15 hits, I deleted the ad) and told them first person who called me and picked up today got it. The very last gal who emailed me called, she lived in my TOWN, and came right over and picked it up.

She emailed me later and thanked me again for the fabric and said she was already starting on a quilt for her grandson.

So, at least someone who appreciated it got it, but what a hassle!

I'm surprised you had so much trouble. The quilter here would have been there in a shot.

You should have listed it on here. Somebody would have taken it off your hands faster than that.
