HAH!! That's Barnbum's Heart Herd. She's not giving any of them up!
Exactly, gaigai, exactly. :-D

They are so cute! How could you not fall in love with them. Beautiful faces.

barnbum 01-16-2010 07:15 AM

I do fall in love with them--that's why I can't be a breeder. It's too hard on my heart.

The babies started being weaned today. It's going to be nice out for a stretch, so I thought I'd give it a go. It means two pastures to keep up with water, but I'm used to that. They have been weaned for the nights for months, so this should be very easy. I have Monday, off, so three days to keep my eye on them and keep them busy.

Tucker will be gelded on Feb 16th.

gaigai 01-16-2010 07:58 AM

Poor Tucker! But I know it is the best thing to do. And at least you aren't weaning at 4 months and having to listen to the foals & mommas crying for a week!!

I stopped at the post office on my way home this morning. I'm on my way to bed 'cause I'm working five in a row. Now that the first check is on the way, I was going to announce on the thread that it was ME!!! :P :P :P But I'll announce it at kwhite's pad. She lets me "squat" there with her! LOL Hurray!!!

barnbum 01-16-2010 08:57 AM

Oh, I'm a very gradual weaner of foals... these two are getting just a little too obnoxious in the morning when it's time to nurse, so I thought we'd better end it. Rosie is keeping them company, but I think she'd rather be with the grown-ups.

They're all adorable and your pics are fantastic! Thanks for always sharing with us.

Boy, it sure looks cold there!!!! And your babies look so happy. No wonder your heart is full.

butterflywing 01-16-2010 09:19 AM

karla, i don't know how you do it. working, horsing, taking pictures, quilting and momming. not necessarily in that order. where does all that energy come from?

barnbum 01-16-2010 09:41 AM

butterfly--I just keep moving. I cover a lot of distance in a day--helps me sleep better.

Wake up (5:20 am)--head to the barn--teach--get home and back to the barn--do school work--maybe quilt--head to the barn-maybe quilt--bed (9:30-10:30). On the weekends, the teach is replaced with more barn trips-quilting plans- and photos. Quilting may not happen Mon-Fri. It's a good life! :-D

The mothering need is way down. I'm enjoying that. I'm resting up for grandmotherhood. ;)

when do you eat? visit your husband? wave to your kids?

you must be a blur on the horizon, but the horses thrive, the quilts are beautiful, the kids are healthy and the pictures fantastic. so, keep it up. you're doing everything right.

teach me how!!

 Well, breakfast is after chores, before my shower. If I have 5-10 min extra in the morning, I can sew or pin something (I did much of the TIC then). I eat lunch while I'm grading papers at school, so I don't have to bring too much home. Dinner is usually quick--so I can eat and check out the forum.

Hubby and I have lots of time together--we cherish the privacy when the kids are gone. We're going out for dinner tonight.

I text/email my kids when they're away. Rachel was just home for over a week and we had lots of fun--she'll usually come out to the barn to hang out with me, and Justin spends more the time with his fiancé', so that part is easy.

I call it stealing moments... you can squeeze a lot in where you might choose to be idle.

Talking on here is my down time... I'm sitting at least. ;)

i'm no teacher, but you get an A+.
