I just had to share. My avatar is a brand new picture of 4 of my kids. All 4 are black belts. The oldest, at 18 is on the left, is a 3rd degree, the one with glasses at 14 is ready to test for his 2nd degree, and the other 2 are my twins, they're 12, who happen to be 1st degree. The pic was taken on Dec 4th. My other 2 sons (25,and 16) have other interests.

dsb38327 01-06-2011 04:22 PM

I bet it gets interesting at your house when they are practicing. Or is that something they only do at the gym. I have a lot of respect for the skill but do not know more about it than I see on T.V.. I know it is a grand accomplishment and congratulations to each of them.

They take class 4 times a week so they mostly practice at the school. When it gets close to testing time they do practice some at home, mostly weapons and board breaks.

dixiebelle162002 01-06-2011 05:47 PM

Excellent! Sounds like you have wonderful and talent children. As you already know it requires immense hardwork to get to that rank.

Vicki W 01-06-2011 07:47 PM

You have every right to brag, nice looking family. Congratulations

littlehud 01-06-2011 09:11 PM

That is so great!! My daughter now 15 took Karate at age 4 to age 7 she was almost a black belt, but did not want to do it again. I have tried to talk her into doing it again but still not interested. I know how proud you must be of your children for such acomplishments! :XD:

quilt3311 01-07-2011 05:34 AM

That's so neat. Have a nephew and two of his kids who teach. One is in college and started her own small class for fellow students.

How wonderful! It is so nice to see children (young adults) doing constricutive things rather than watching tv and playing video games

decky 01-07-2011 05:33 PM

I remember my DD saying when the boys were young that she didn't care what sport the boys got into just so it wasn't hockey. Well guess what the youngest one is into? Hockey is not just for winter time it is a year around sport around here.

True! And you really have something to brag about. I don't know anything about the significance of the belts and their colors or degrees. Would someone mind enlightening me and others who are embarrassed to ask?
