Well, I never technically left...but my hard drive on my laptop died ( I lost everything, including over 1,000 pictures from the last 2 years...all my photo's of my quilts...)
so I had to replace the hard drive and then for 3 days couldn't get the laptop to connect to my wireless network, but after getting a new router and getting set up with Time Warner Cable (I hate them) I'm finally back. I haven't touched any fabric or my machine since Thursday...this was a major set back in my Christmas gift making, but it sure does feel good to have my internet back!!

Reminds me I need to back up all my stuff to my external hard drive. I think about it when my computer is acting up, but then when it's back on track I forget. Making a note right now on my to do list, near the very top. Thanks. :D

I meant to do that a couple weeks ago when it was acting up. It got better so I forgot. Thus, I went out and got a 500gig Seagate so I'd have enough room to back up both of my computers.

It's a device that you hook up to your computer via the USB port, it backs up your main drive on your computer, usually your C: drive, all your photos, files, documents...usually it comes with the software preloaded so that when you plug it it, the program that suns the hard drive starts automatically.

Thank you again.

Glad to have you back. Computers.........love them when they work, hate em when they break down.

Welcome back. I have an external hard drive as well. Computers are wonderful when they cooperate, but when they don't, it is a heartbreak! I just got mine back from service and it feels good!

Ask some computer smart 14 year old if he can retrieve files on your old hard drive. Sometimes it can be done. But that's a good hard way to learn to back up your stuff every now and then.

Sorry about losing all your pictures, some of them were probably priceless.

welcome back. I download all my pics on a thumb drive. Haven't tried an external hard drive yet. Sounds like a better idea!

That I'm not sure about, if you are talking about internet favorites...

Thumb drives can go bad! Use them often to keep them charged. I don't know what that really means, but that is what I was told by a clerk. A friend lost stuff on her thumb drive. It cannot be retreived!

SOOO sorry you lost all that stuff! Welcome back:now you have to take a lot more pics LOL
