with all the shootings and animal deaths and unemployment and turmoil I love to come to this board to hear what you all have to say and see what you've all been doing. (Can you say 'run-on' sentence?) This 'place' is a warm-fuzzy!!!
Beautiful pup and I agree with you!
That's why I come here too. It is a wonderful place to escape to for a while.
Yes I agree. I was at an all day sew yesterday and did not know what had happened in Tucson until I came home and checked on my computer for email etc. Very sad indeed. Tragedy!
I always come to the board after I read the news, kinda like cleansing your pallet in between courses at a formal dinner!!
yes, it is nice to see what others doing/saying and escape.
have there been many animal deaths and shootings? |
Yes, this place is a pick-me-upper!
I love it here too...so many of us are close in and share similar experiences - I find it a great place to encourage one another. Quilting has certainly been therapy for me, as I'm sure for all of you, just so neat to share this with all of you.
This is a group that sends prayers and hope to those that are having problems. I am proud to be a part of this group.
I agree, nice place to get away from horrible things going on around us.
I agree. What kind of doggie is that in your avatar.? What a cutie.
Yeah I live in Washington and wow the shootings here lately are sad. You living in Texas I'm sure are sad about the happenings yesterday. :x |
Isn't it wonderful to have a place like this! I know that I was getting in a rut of work and home and getting pretty down about it and then I found this site and things are much better. I love the great folks here and would be lost without them. I've even learned how to keep up with the site and get things done. I check in here for 10 or 15 mins than go do some dishes and than back here and then off to fold clothes than back here then sew a few blocks and so on.

Thanks! Cheyenne is a Shiloh Shepherd. My 'fur-baby'.
He is just beautiful.
I so totally agree with you. This is my comfort zone big time!! Thanks everyone :)
yep, quilting talk does perk up one's day!
Its a great place to relax!
Well, let's toss another log on the wood, watch the snow, and go looking for more inspiration!!! LOL Actually, that's what I did just now!!!! I love coming here, too...this place is such an upper!
I know! I've only been on here a short time, but it's great to be able to check in and see what everyone's doing. Like talking to a friend on the phone....So many topics and so able to relate.
some days its better to not even watch the news...
That's why I listen to the oldies music from the 70's
One song stands out, by John Denver Thank God I'm a country boy, it just cheers Me up real quick !! not all's bad. and I so enjoy this board very much !! |
I think the important thing for me from this board is that we have people who hear us when we need listening to, who help when we need help, and resolve the problems we have in quilting (and other things) that sometimes seem unsolvable. It is a great place to come and visit for whatever we need. It seems as if no matter how big or little the situation, someone has experienced it, too.
This beats turning on the news anyday - I know we need to keep up with the goings-on in our world today - but....... it is very depressing to hear one bad thing after another every day - just so good to read positive input on this site! Keep up the good work gals,,, and guys too! I'd be lost without this site to start my day.
That is one beautiful pup, the way he looks at the camera reminds me of my Susie Q. She was a germanS./Collie mix and wieghted 100 lbs when grown. Just a big dog, and colored like a collie with big head and ears. She was my guardian angel too. had her nine years and still miss her. People were afraid of her untill I introduced them and then she just loved them to death.LOL Kids came to visit Susie not me.LOL She loved cats too and thought she was mommy to any cat that was around, Washing and fussing over them like a nanny.
We are living in a world of problems, but they fade when I'm on the site with all you quilters. Best place to be.

My avatat is my fur-baby. He's half lab, half beagle. He's a LaBeagle. Bowser.
I'm right in there with agreeing with you. We all need warm and fuzzies now more than ever. I make donation quilts for children around the world to remind me that they are our future and need comforting, too.
PS My furbaby is an Australian Shephard - your Shepard is gorgeous. |
I don't listen to the news anymore, too depressing~
The Board IS my idea of news. It's about the only news I care much about. So, thanks for creating such a loving safe place to be.
Amen!!
Looking in at this board is one of the first things I do each day. I have enjoyed meeting so many people hear and laughing and crying with everyone. I am so glad I found this place.
Yes, I come here too to recharge my battery. So many sad things going on. Even tho' I didn't know the little girl in Tucson or the other people I sure cried. When 9/11 happened my boss had to send us all home, we just couldn't function and work. During the Vietnam War I stopped watching the news, so upsetting, just like Iraq. When I'm in my sewing room buried in projects the world is beautiful. I keep praying.
When there is so much going on in the world, it is nice to have a place to recharge and put our minds at peace. But we can't escape the world or hide. I read my bible and pray for those who are in trouble. I don't know if it helps them but I find I can go on, because no matter how bad thing get I know I can get thru it. I find beauty and peace in the natural world and little thing aroung us,grand children, pets, flowers, gardens , snow covered mountains, etc.
I watched the planes that morning going into the buildings, and When I thought we were at war on our soil, I started to think about what to do if we were hit in the oil refinery near me. I lived on Galveston Island and there is only one bridge off the island that goes right by those refineies. My survival kicked in, so no matter what happens we do find a way to survive and go on. Don't put you head in the sand too long, just long enough to recharge and then full speed ahead, we are Americans and "can do" is in our genes. My folks came here 300 years ago and I don't think they would want us to stick our heads in the sand and let evil take over. That is not an option for Americans. |
This place always puts a smile on my face:)
I agree!
ya this is a mostly happy upbeat place to hang out. nice dog pic
Thanks libbyboi. Your family came here 300 years ago. My family line was already here, Native Americans, the Indians. I'm glad they learned to work together to build this country. This country, like the quilts, is made of different colors and I hope the basic concept of freedom will keep the nation great. Stay positive.
