I have been training for a 10 K run and have only small older rescue fur children. I have been walking (they have been running me) at the NSPCA and they love it as much as I do. Some of the dogs have been there a while and when they see me they get so excited. We are also working on 'Stop' - 'Sit' - ‘Wait’ I think I have more fun than they do.
As a quilter and knowing a lot of quilters. I gather the leftovers of batting and fabric from the quilts and make dog beds for the small fur children at the NSPCA. With so many of them needing just a lot of love. I have plenty to give and all of you who Adopt and help at the shelters across the country. I salute you. |
I am a kitten foster parent. We take in kittens and raise them long enough to reach 2 1/2 lbs so then can be "fixed" before they are adopted out. I love doing it because we can play with them, learn their personalities and list it on their paperwork. So when people look to adopt they have an idea if they are quiet and like being held or more playful. Yes I do get attached.

Whoo Hoo! I just went to a training class at my local animal shelter and I'm now certified to work with the animals. I have been waiting with baited breath for today. I will be with the cats.
Does anyone esle volunteer? |
Thank you to all those who help out when and where ever you can for these fur babies! It's good to know there are a lot of us out there.

Congrats! I volunteered at the city animal shelter ages ago as part of a high school class.

I could not do that, I took in four kittens over several years. Two were feral, two dumped. I got my avatar dog from Humane Society. Won't do that again, just someone's screw ups. I have a very hard time going around those places. I couldn't bring them all home.
