Congratulations to all of you that have quit & best wishes for all of you in the process. I am throwing mine away on Oct. 15th, 2010. I've tried unsuccessfully sev times. Can;t take the Chantix so will just try it cold turkey.

I gave up smoking in December, 1998. It is amazing how much fabric I can buy with my cigarette money.

You can do it, if you really want to. But do it for yourself and not because someone else wants you to. I did it for myself, had tried so many times because it was what someone else wanted me to do. Yes, I did it cold turkey.

The price of cigarettes can buy you lots of fabric.

I quit Dec. of 1996. I had a prescription in my purse for the patch which is what was used at that time. But I ended up in the hospital emergency room with heart problems and the first thing the Dr. asked me was if I smoked. I said yes and he said very forcefully "YOU HAVE TO QUIT AND QUIT NOW!!!". That was Dec. 21st. I was able to go home on Christmas Eve and I have never touched a cigarette from Dec. 21st on. I always say I had it scared right out of me.

Quit "cold turkey" in August 2009
Disgusting, smelly(stinking), expensive habit, but have to admit I sometimes miss the commeradity(sp?) of smoking with a fellow smoker. Have gained over 20 lbs and am so unhappy about that and consider going back to smoking but so far am hanging in there.
