I'm so excited to share my news

I was asked just today to write a blog for our local thrift store's new website. I entered one of my recycled fabric quilts in a drawing contest they were holding, and was contacted and asked to write about how I make and donate comfort quilts and use recycled fabric from their store.
After I did as requested, they contacted me again and asked if I would be interested in being a regular contributor.
My excitement is so great because they pay for submissions with gift cards to the store. How awesome that I can share about quilting, recycling, etc. AND get free fabric to make more comfort quilts in the process!!!
The site is not quite up and running but will be soon, and I have already submitted my first blog, because they want to use my story as the first entry!!!

How cool is that!! You could showcase a quilt made from jeans and plaid shirts that came from the thrift store. Or a tie quilt using ties donated to the thrift store. Or a string quilt made from cotton shirts and blouses.

Yes, isn't it a great chance to share so many of the neat things we do? Don't want to forget the denim bags and t-shirt quilts, either.

congrats! do you have a, used or a vintage machine from there store. This would be interesting. have a good time. DottieBug

fktsewing 08-02-2014 05:59 AM

If the thrift stores in my area would get a clue, they would do this too!!! I go in an purchase clothing to make doll clothes, quilts, and doggie t shirts and sweatshirts and when I check out they ask who I am buying it for---when I tell them, they always look shocked---I explain that it is cheaper than buying fabric and I can am recycling things which my Granny taught me to do. My friend buys wool clothing and felts it to do wool embroidery--way so much cheaper. I know I am not the only one and if they would have the local paper do a story--their business would explode.

Thanks everyone, I so appreciate all your good wishes. Just to note, it's not actually a job, like with a salary and such. Don't want to mislead anyone, it's still a real honor in my eyes.

DottieBug, I don't have a vintage machine but that would be a wonderful suggestion if I did.
