We were over there for my husband's RandR in 1968. We rented a car and drove around the island.

I lived in Honolulu for a couple years when I first started quilting. Kaimuki Dry Goods is just a short ride from beach areas and is well worth the trip. They have beautiful hawaiian/beach fabrics as well as fabrics from Japan. While I admired them, I always shopped from their fairly large 1/2 price tables. Also the Royal Hawaiian Center offers a class on hawaiian
applique which you might enjoy. Great place to visit. Hope you have a good time.

Pearl Harbor, the Polynesian Culture center, the whole thing, Diamond Head. You Have a 360* view from there. It is steep and 100+ steps to climb but it is well worth it. Be sure to take something to do on the plane. It is a long flight. Don't forget to change you watch time back. I use nose spray for the ear plugging an it works great. Have a great time and take lots of pictures.

Another remark about the ear problem. A Stewardess saw my distress with my ears and offered me two of the small drink cups, said to place them over each ear until we were stable in altitude. Worked wonders. Now I ask for them as I board any flight.

Just got back from Hawaii this last Tuesday and had a wonderful time. Was able to have a personal tour guide as my niece and her family live there. They live on Oahu and there is plenty to do and see. Ask at the hotel desk and they can tell you all you need to know. We were all over the island from Pearl Harbor to the Dole Pineapple Plantation. Have a great time!!

Be very aware of the time zone differences. How many hours differences are there between where you live and Hawaii? Start getting your body tuned in to that time, so you can enjoy it more. For some people it is a problem, for others it is not.
