When I use garland, I put it on after the lights but before the ornaments. My sister does it the opposite of me and I think we both end up with beautiful trees! :)
|
No garland-Prelit tree then decorate with assorted items on it ..
We don't use tinsel either as our avatar is a floor eater and I could see her eating that (she has tried to eat yarn !!) |
I put on the garland, before the ornaments. Otherwise, I end up having to move ornaments from under the garland.

If I get a tree...no garland here...lights, ornaments and tinsel....as to if they still make it? not sure, it's still in my boxes...using what I have..all trees are beautiful..and special...

I quit using garlands when saw a friend's Christmas tree done with cut garlands, so I have adapted her idea to my own tree. See below.

It depends on the garland. I have a garland of little wrapped presents that I like to put on after the lights but before the ornaments. If it is the fuzzy tinsel kind, I like that last so it drapes nicely on the ends of the boughs.
Who still puts tinsel on their tree? I stopped once we got an artificial trees because it is a pain to take it all off before storing the tree. Do they even still make tinsel? I put my garland on last, and still put tinsel on my artificial tree. I vacuum it off before I put the tree away. |
Pre-lit tree, angel on top, garlands of beads (new ones hard to find in my area, so add very carefully!), ornaments, candy canes, then tinsel, lots of tinsel! Found silver tinsel at walMart , and some beautiful gold wavy tinsel at the dollar store. Actually, I still call tinsel icicles.

Garland 1st.

No garland because my kitty pulls it off and drags it around the house. No tinsel because she eats it. Lots and lots of lights and ornaments on our tree.

I use beautiful Christmas ribbon (wide, on sale) and I cut into 20" pieces (Oh, also wire). I then pinch the two ends and stuff the ends into the tree in such a way that the ribbon appears to go in and out of the bows like a single piece. Easy, fast, pretty and you can keep them for next year.
