Would your family member qualify for this "medically needy" category? The person with leukemia would have to be a child, disabled, elderly or pregnant.

I appreciate all the information. I will pass along anything I think may be relevant. They are worried. I am worried. It is a real problem for those who are not totally indigent, just barely living pay check to pay check, and cannot take on extra cost for medical care which can mount up quickly.

Sadly, not just anyone can go to St. Jude's. You have to be referred by your doctor (though most are happy to do so) AND qualify for one of their ongoing research studies.
