Hubby found the problem (Nope, too technical. No idea what it is.) and is looking at the cost of ordering that part vs. just getting a used dryer on craigslist. He has been using the top as a shelf though...

It doesn't hurt every few years to pull out the drum and check for lint accumulation too, DD's had singed lint back there, and it wasn't caused from not emptying the lint screen, just years of use. Also check your vent hose too, as it can also accumulate at the dryers opening, and back inside there. That is a great tip on cleaning the screen. A little dishsoap and a brush cleans them up nicely :D:D:D

I need to go clean off the top of my dryer. Sigh.

Dryer's up and running now! YAY. Or should I say, reassembled and heating... haha.

Ooops! I have boxes & my purse on top of the dryer. Didn't think about it doing that. Thanks.

I am going in the utility room now to clean off the top of mine. I have replaced my heating element twice already and my machine is fairly new. Thanks for the insight.
I always clean the traps, etc and could not figure out why it was going out. I use the top of the machine like alittle closet.lol
