I would try a search on WebMD and see what they have to say. If it's not dry skin and he hasn't come in contact with anything out of the ordinary..... It's worth a try. Good Luck!
If my DGM was still here she would it's because you have the urge to spend money. LOL!!
I was always told that when your hands itch you are about to receive money. Anyways perhaps a new lotion?
I hear if your hands itch one is receiving money the other hand it paying out money. I don't know which hand is the receiving or giving. It's just a myth.
is he exposed to lots of dish and laundry soap? hehehe could it be a side effect or reaction to a medication?
Ask to see if something he comes into contact with has changed. He may have dry skin. Has he changed any food or medicine intake. Have you changed bathing or laundry soaps?
Sometimes taking benadryll type of meds helps. I would check with the doctor or his nurse for their advice. Pam M |
Don't want to worry you but years ago my Dr tested me for MS when I went through a long period of itchy hands. Hope you can figure out what's going on soon. I know it's very uncomfortable.
For me, itching hands is the first symptom of a food allergy. If I take a couple of Benedryl right away, I may be able to avoid a trip to the ER.

eczema maybe? i used to get it real bad on my hands, they would itch like crazy before they broke out.
Temperature change can cause extremities to itch. Change in blood flow, which can cause temperature change, can cause itchiness, too.

Of course, my mom always said you were coming into money when your hand was itching. I would think lotion would help - winter usually drys out our skin - so a nice lotion usually helps. If not, benadryl but the benadryl will make you sleepy.

What I've heard, right palm itch, means receiving money. Left palm itch, you will be losing money, too add more, it's been said to spit on your palm and scratch it on wood for more money......the last time I had my palm itch, I just ignored it. |
Please don't let this go. See your doctor.

My grandaughter has baby Eczema and we use Aquaphor on her. It costs about $8 but moisturizes the skin nicely. She is putting her hands in her mouth a lot now so it is still good as it won't hurt you to put it in your mouth. I put it on her two or three times a day just to keep her moist. I agree with dewie45 though..... see a doctor before trying anything. It could be seasonal or not.

Carpal tunnel will give one that sensation. My mom's hands itched all the time and that's what it was. I have CT also but hands will tingle and feel swollen but not look swollen. I can't bend my fingers when it gets bad, they actually act like they are swollen. I had the surgery in '04 and it failed. Get it checked because waiting WILL cause him to loose the strength in his hands.
Let me know because my hands do the same thing
Years ago I used to get this hand rash and itching from eating too much citrus......mainly oranges.

As for the whining, either plug your ears or take some antihistamine. LOL |

I get intermittent, intense itching on the tops of my hands and especially over my thumbs. But this can change, and it isn't confined to any specific time of day or activity. So odd. |
I believe it may be contact dermititis. Might try Benadryl.
i've had trouble lately with mine tingling. almost to the extent of pain. electrical shocks like.
I have what my Dr. calls a cold allergy in my hands. If I touch anything cold my hands start to itch so bad you want to dig the skin off (sorry for the graphic picture). I'm very careful not to touch frozen items for very long as my hands will immediately turn red and start to itch.
Does he have diabetes? You should contact your Dr.

There is a cold urticaria, immune system problem can occur after stress.
Has he started any new medication lately? Some blood pressure medicine can cause photo dematitis from sunlight. Happens to me every Spring. It's very irritating. Gets somewhat better later in the year.
Stress shows up in many ways. has he been stressed in the last couple of weeks?
sometimes using soap and/or skin cleansers and/or anti-bac sanitizer can catch up with a person. if there is nothing medically wrong, try using a pure and natural soap. meaning NO chemicals. they are hard to find, but make sure they do not have any parabens, or anything of the sort. google it for info. once i switched, i no longer need lotion and do not have itchy skin at all. plus the soap is good for the face too -- and no dryness. my bar soap in the shower lasted for over one year! so it is a good deal. i recently bought a 2-pack at trader joes for $1.99 and they work really well.
I always heard itchy hands mean company
My mothers hands have iched for many years for no apparent reason Cannot find a remedy but frequent use of good hand loition does help some
Try some medicated lotion or something with benadryl in it. Hate to say this, but mine itch sometimes if I'm really stressed. For that I use some cream with cortisone. both are OTC.
Could be a pinched nerve,a good chiropractor might help.

I just saw a dermatoligst(not spelled right) I had this itching and awful rash for 4 months. It was a severe case of exzema. She perscribed a steroid cream you use 10 days. Well, its cleared up. Its from the cold and having damp hands. I have to wear gloves and even cotton ones dusting. I tried everything. It drove me nuts. Hope you get relief soon.

over my body. Kept up for 2 or 3 days, could not figure out what could be causing it. Called the Dr's office and nurse said take a Benedryl tablet and see if that helpsl Yup!, it stopped and haven't had a problem since. |
I get what I believe is a diabetic itch of my hands every now and again aqueous cream works well. If he hasn't been checked out, see if his sugar levels are OK and you may find that is the answer. All the best.

In the mean time I would suggest keeping a daily log to see if it starts at the same time, or after doing something with chemicals or whatever. That would be helpful when it comes time to see the doctor, because I'm sure these questions will be asked. Other than a hand lotion, I don't think I would take anything for it until seeing a doctor. If your husband balks at seeing the doctor then I would suggest that he do all the dish washing and also the laundry....by hand, since warm water might help relieve the itch. That might be a great time do re-wash all the items in the linen closet. We must keep him busy. As I tell my husband, either see the doctor or keep your complaints to yourself, as I'm aware of it since he already told me all morning and I don't need to hear it anymore. ;) |
Sounds like he may have a yeast or fungal problem. Taking probiotics will probably help if this is the case. This is actually much more common then most people realize.
Kidney or liver problems can also cause the itching. I would try the probiotics and if they don't help, see a dermatologist. |
