Those are absolutely delightful!

I took a circle of Sturdy cardboard about 5 1/2" around. I covered it like you would a do a large yo-yo with the gathered opening about 1/2 dollar in size. Finish off securely. Your material should look like it has small folds in it around the gathered opening. The cardboard you just covered should be very sturdy. Then I take a can the size of a Fancy Feast cat food can (washed LOL) and stuff the opening with polyfil. It should mound up above the can. Then cover the can completely and gather it in the center of the bottom of the can. When gathering, do not fold the fabric like you were doing a hem as this makes the gather too thick. Gather a single raw edge thickness. Then heavily hot glue the bottom of the can to the area that you gathered around the disc. I also do a good secure stitch closely around the bottom of the can, stitching it to the top of the disc. Make sure you stitch close to the can so the stitches can be covered up with your decorations. You can also offset the opening around the disc and the bottom of the can to do an old timey hat where the rim of the hat was smaller on one edge than it was on the other. Hope this answers your questions.

I have a couple of prototypes I'll send. I couldn't upload the images so let me try something different. If not I'll PM you for your e-mail address.
Here are the prototypes you requested. Nothing is glued on yet and I'm not through decorating yet but this will give you an idea. The last one is just a roll of felt stuffed down in a tea light holder but I'm not liking it without putting a circle on top and then decorating. Not sure how much to charge for these? |
Looks like quite a bit of work. The main problem with crafts and quilting, it is difficult to get paid for the amount of effort you have in it plus the cost of the material. I would try to figure the cost of my supplies and then double it. At least. They are really nice.

You do a beautiful job.

Actually, not much time involved. I use strips of polar fleece or felt and then wrap them tight, glue and decorate. I would imagine it's less time than your beautiful pin cushions. For me the most difficult part is finding something to be the cake stand.

Thank you, so do you!
I'm using some Wilton Cupcake reusable forms that are in the shape of a teddy bear. I've got 4 combinations I'm trying to decide which to use if any. I'm thinking to hold diaper pins for baby's room.
