I am not sure what you are referring to Illinois.?

Scott is the CEO of a company that supplies a number of lines of quilting cotton to shops in North America and beyond. I choose to follow his Facebook page as well as subscribe to his blog. I am interested in what he has to say, the charity work he does and the quilting industry from a wholesale perspective. The videos he posts of how fabric gets from rolls on to bolts, how are precuts are bundled all give an interesting insight into the industry.

I feel it was incredibly generous of him to send me the FQ bundle as a thank you for participating in the comments on his blog.

how do i get to quilting stuff?

I follow different quilting stars, quilt shops, fabric lines etc. I follow about 6 local quilt shops, Tula Pink, Kaffe, Philip Jacobs, Missouri Star, Angela Walters, Karlee Porter, Just Get it Done Quilts and more. There is always something interesting on my feed. I belong to a variety of Long Arm groups and more.

I ignore political or religious posts, unless they are outright lies. We just had a federal election and a friend reposted something that had 10 points of which 7 were complete falsehoods. There were on a topic in which I have some expertise and I posted 'corrections' for the incorrect material. My friend took down the post when she realized it was propaganda.

Do a search on Facebook.....on the top of the page.

Search quilting, sewing rooms, your fave pattern brands , fabric lines, machine brands, long arm, etc. there are tons of groups....just “apply” for membership....it is free...just keeps the group free from trolls and there are administrators to control “off topic” posts. Quilting Board is on FB too. Enjoy!

I “unfollow” people. On my personal FB page if they become obnoxious...I “unfriend” some too.....all done privately..I unfriended a guild member when one of her friends ripped me multiple times on one political post . A stranger to me! Yes, quild member knows I unfriended her......in hindsight I should have unfollowed her but no big loss imho. I steer clear of politics for the most part.

How exciting!! You have to be thrilled with this surprise. What a great gift especially this time of the year! I would be wrapping it up and putting in with all the holiday gifts. You will be more thrilled when you open it Christmas only because you may have forgotten it by then and be doubly thrilled!

Wow! Well deserved Tothill--can't wait to see what you make. I heard Scott speak at a LQS about a year ago--very interesting information on how the fabric industry works, etc. I also follow him on FB.

congratulations on your win Tothill. I looked up that blog post
https://scottfortunoff.com/2019/11/1...s-must-listen/

I was in a shop two weeks ago that hit every single one of the shop problems people spoke of, and a few others.
She wasn't open at opening time but moseyed in about 10 minutes later.
She had two dogs with her (I love dogs by the way) who were barkers and the young one kept running at me in a menacing manner.
The lighting was terrible.
Based on the article above I said hello in a very friendly voice. Twice. no response.
To start a friendly conversation I said I was happy to see so many yellows and aquas in the shop, that they weren't even available when I started buying fabric in the 70's. She said "they've always been available." I said you aren't old enough to remember what was available in the 70's, with a smile. She said "I was born in 1986 but I remember what my mother's shop had in it"...

Anyway, I'm not much of a shopper, but if I get a fancy to do so again, it won't be there I'll be visiting.

Thank you for the post, Tothill, I'm enjoying reading his blog posts, like you said a different perspective on the industry. He seems like a very kind and generous soul from the type of giveaways mentioned there...he's blessed many lives it seems!
