Just finished neck pillow

I know neck pillows have been a conversation lately so I decided to try one.

I just made one of these neck pillows today. It was so easy & I'll try it out tonight when DH & I are watching TV. I estimate that it took me about 45 minutes to make. I think these would make great Christmas gifts. I'm going to make our Pastor's wife one & my DD one for Christmas this year. I had an el cheapo Walmart pillow that I cut open & used the poly out of to stuff it. I used almost all of the stuffing from the pillow. I also made the handles on the side from the same fabric that I used to make the pillow.

Here's a link to the pattern:

Very pretty, I love the floral and colors.

I really like it! I need to make one....or two!

Good job! I've never understood the need for the handles. Am I missing something?

My printer made the pattern 5 3/4 inches. I printed it again at 125% zoom and it came out at 7 1/4 inches. That's close enough for me.

I'm going to try this for my knee. I have bursitis in my knee and cannot put any pressure on that spot. So I have to put a pillow or something under that leg just above the knee so that spot touches nothing. I think this would work great!

illinois, I didn't think I needed the handles either but put them on anyway. Now I'm glad I did because it makes it so easy to maneuver the pillow while you are sitting with the pillow under your neck. Also, it's easy to carry around with the handles & allows you to hang it if you want while storing it. Be sure & reinforce the stitching of them by double stitching so they don't pull out.

maviskw, I think it would be great for your knee.

I will be making DH one today (so he doesn't steal mine...:))

Thanks for the site for the pattern. I think I will make myself one for night reading in bed. Sometimes we need to make ourselves something nice and useful too. lol

I've made a couple of these. One with cotton fabric for me...I love it. The other was made with a very stretchy velvet-like fabric. Very soft, but the stretchy part meant a lot more stuffing needed so it came out bigger, not too big, just bigger. Should have used a no stretch interfacing inside.

How very pretty!
I've made 3 of them and we all like a different amount of stuffing! They are a super great idea! (I admit ot leaving the handles off) Too many jokes about them being used to hook over the ears!
