I just thought about coffee......I hate it, don't even like the smell, or any way to "make it better - like chocolate, milk, etc!! My daughter drinks it, though she never had it at home growing up unless her dad, who bought his at 7-11 on the way to work, introduced her. I guess she started in college. Yuck, yuck, yuck. :p

Glad you mentioned them. It helped me decide what to cook for dinner. Haven't had them in a long time and we love them!

We don't have very picky eaters in our family. Picky people take all the fun out of cooking. DH will eat anything, but doesn't like okra or eggplant. I also eat most anything, but since I do most of the cooking I don't have to worry about the few things I don't like. If he's missing anything, he can order it when we go out. I've noticed that our adult kids have become less picky since they have been in charge of their own food choices. We always chose our battles with them, and I never thought it worth any unhappiness at the table to try to control what another person eats. Nor would I cater to special demands. It was "If you're not doing the grocery shopping and cooking, then it's take it or leave it!"

My whole family is nuts for sugar, and it was always amazing to me to host a kid's birthday party and find that some kids would leave most of their cake and ice cream. It must be in their genes, and I sure need to borrow some of those genes.

I am originally from South Jersey so I was raised on scrapple and still love it. We still have it every Sunday with pancakes and syrup. Just don't tell me how they make it because I would probably never eat it again! What I don't like and seriously cannot eat is pickled beets!!!!!!!!!! ICK!

Two of my kids are living in S Korea to teach English. They eat some of the most disgusting things! My son once ate a live octopus!

Oh, yeah. the thing I couldn't eat would be kale chips. My son loves 'em. I know a lot of folks rave on them, but it's just the idea. I never made my kids eat anything if they didn't like it after trying it. That's because I spent many meals trying to choke down cold mashed potatoes. No mashed to this day. UGH! My son eats all kinds of things now...

Just remembered. when I was a kid, every New Year's my mother would fix black eyed peas and hogs jaw. I have never been able to stand Black Eyed Peas! I'm not sure my kids have ever had them. It was a tradition when she was growing up. I changed it to roast beef! My kids think that it's turkey for Thanksgiving, Ham for Christmas and Roast Beef for New Year's. When we become adults we can start our own traditions.

By the way, my Auntie used to make the best salmon and/or mackerel patties - yum! My DH and kids hate them. Oh well, I could always make a bunch then freeze them.

Saw this on "Dirt Jobs".

Had to chuckle when I read this. Saw the same show and I can't eat talapia anymore either.

My kids (now 42 & 39) had to have 1 tea spoon full
of whatever was on the table. Now they eat just
about anything.

This also worked on the neighbors son who said
he did not like veggies. He had never tried them.
Later he was the 1st one at the table to get them.

I used to try that with our son and it worked (he's now 27). He'll eat almost anything. I have even gotten my husband to eat Brussel sprouts and Lamb, which he didn't used to eat.
