HELPFUL HINT. Keep a small written log of your levels. You can get one of the small 3x5 or smaller note books and carry it with you at all times. If you run into a problem and are a different hospital or drs office they can see your history at a glance. All you need to record is the date, the reading, and how much medicine your taking. IE: 8/3/11 2.6 5mg. Dont be discouraged if it takes a while to get regulated, that is very normal. You may have to have your levels drawn while on vacation as well. Oh, another hint...carry bandaids with you at all times. Even a little scratch may bleed and bleed and bleed. HUGS!

Sewing is therapy, but just take it easy all other things, like 'housework' for a while

patty04 08-03-2011 05:08 PM

vivoaks 08-03-2011 06:42 PM

oh, wow! Take your time and recuperate! My mom went through that a few years ago, so she's on the warfarin for life, as well. Listen to your doctor, and take it easy for awhile.

babyfireo4 08-03-2011 10:10 PM

welcome back, hope they dissolve quickly. How scary to have gotten them twice! Hope the docs figure out what caused it and fix the issue. Happy Quilting and take it easy :)

Glad you are feeling better. Just be careful with that rotary cutter since you are on Warfarin!

stitchinwitch 08-04-2011 04:38 AM

OMG Jill!!I just noticed this thread and I'm so surprised and shocked to read about your problem. Do you think it has ANYTHING to do with your trips to "my favorite island"?? I hope not!!!It looks like you will have to depend on others to run the restaurant for a little while longer.
Stay well, my friend, and follow doctors orders - watching those greens. Will you have to get your blood checked every month now?

grannypat7925 08-04-2011 06:00 AM

Hope better days are coming soon!

njh2351 08-04-2011 07:08 AM

Perhaps your unknown health condition has been nagging at you, distracting you. Now that you know what your condition is and what you can do about it, you will probably be able to focus more on quilting.

Good luck to you - and thank goodness you listened to your family!

Tweety2911 08-04-2011 12:21 PM

What an incredible story and how incredibly lucky you were to listen to all that 'pesuqading' to get to the ER. Prayers and hugs!

VaNella 08-04-2011 12:23 PM

That sure is scary. I am so glad you are still with us.

debbieumphress 08-04-2011 01:38 PM

I agree, so glad your family was looking after your best interests and you went to ER. Second time and you did it again. YOu are lucky and it's probably because you are a quileter with more projects to go. YOu made me smile.♥♥

IBQUILTIN 08-04-2011 01:44 PM

So glad you heeded the advice of your family. I too am recovering from surgery and sure will be glad when I can make it to the top of that hill. My prayers are with you

RobertaMarie 08-04-2011 02:28 PM

Wishing you "well" and a speedy, complete recovery. No more airplanes, okay? Take care and happy quilting.

plainpat 08-04-2011 02:33 PM

Take care. I've had that quilter's block...no fun.Hope they can find the cause & help you avoid it from now on.

colwoods 08-04-2011 03:03 PM

Ask your physician about 'Factor five Leiden'. It is an inherited factor in the blood that causes clotting. My husband has it and suffered blood clots to the lungs time after time. He was finallly put on Coumadin and has been now for 47 yrs with no more clots. My daughter had two miscarriages due to the clotting in the umbilical cord. She now takes a regular aspirin every day. The other daughter has it also but so far - no problems. When you start back sewing, take breaks frequently and walk around so blood doesn't have time to clot. Being on Coumadin long term is not that hard you just have to be aware of interactions with other medicines and follow instruction.

sewgarden 08-04-2011 03:31 PM

Glad to have still with us. Enjoy your time, and rest when you need to. My Mom was on Warfarin most of her life, she didn't have a big problem with it, she just had to keep track of the numbers and adjust the medications as the doctor told her to.

eimay 08-04-2011 05:58 PM

Wow; you are one lucky lady. Follow doctor's directions and stay well.

Winkee 08-04-2011 06:31 PM
