I bought my husband the Sony Reader for his Christmas present this last year. He loves it. Finds tons of books on line and reads constantly. We haven't had any problems or issues with this device. It can be purchased at Wal-Mart and Border's probably other places to. I recently started reading on it as well and its great. We got the touch model I highly recommend it. Also you'll probably want to get a cover for it with a light it's nice at night when you're in bed and don't want to wake your partner.

My son works for Amazon and he has compared the various brands and stands by the Kindle. I'm getting one for Christmas.

My daughter lives overseas and she has the Kindle. Her decision was based on something about downloading overseas is cheaper or possible or something with the kindle. I'm not sure exactly why. You might want to look into that aspect.

I love my Kindle. I wouldn't trade it for a dozen Nooks or any other electronic reader. I have since bought one for my son for Christmas and one for my daughter for her birthday. My daughter in law was the one that got me turned on to it. I have downloaded hundreds to books on it and a majority of those were free including the bible, a dictionary to name a few. I like that fact that you can download any pdf file that you have from your computer to your Kindle. For example I had an annual test that I needed to study for and the documents that I needed to review were about 500 pages long on my computer. I sent them to myself to my Kindle and was able to take it with me to read. I enjoy reading my Kindle so much more than scrolling down a computer screen reading something. Kindle all the way.

What about non fiction books, i.e. quilt books? Are there any available for either of them?
