I have my mother's stand mixer which must be 20 years old. I love it. I bought the fruit strainer attachment and use it to make applesauce every year. It is a good strong motor and I use it for all of my baking. Enjoy it!

Love my KA for cakes and cookies. Haven't used many of the attachments.
If you get the pasta attachment, don't get the one with rollers.
I don't consider it a workhorse when it comes to bread. I suppose
making a few rolls is fine but I would not dream of making bread
on a regular basis with the KA. I bet it would burn the motor very quickly.
I have a different machine for my bread. Enjoy your KA.

She still has hers after 45+ years and it's going strong. I want to get one as well but they are so expensive. I am going to look at used ones.

I love mine. I don't have the attachments, but use it for breads, and cookies.

As Angel Bear said, make sure you get the splash shield and use it. My SIL forgot one time, took a while to clean up all the flour :D

i love my kitchenaid, but it resides at my daughter's house since i'm short of counter space. at one time, i had the good grinder attachment... i didn't like it so much... prefer my old fashioned cast aluminum one. i also had another attachment... can't remember which... and that didn't work so well, either.

I use mine mainly for baking, making decorator frosting and meringue. Does well creaming and I've never had such high meringues! I do find the bowl is quite deep for folding in chips or other things into cookies by hand, but that is not a biggie. I love the splash guard, but do not have the other attachments. JMHO.

I got my first one in '08 when our kitchen was remodeled because then I had room on the counter formit. The other cabinets were too low. I have the grinder attatchment and the ice cream maker. I love them both! I havent tried making bread in it yet, but i will. If you do any baking at all you will love it. We got a special deal through Amazon right before Christmas.

Thank you all for the help and suggestions. I will definitely get a splash guard and look at the other attachments.
I did some rearranging in the kitchen to accommodate this machine. I took all my cookbooks from the top of the fridge. And put them on the bookcase that runs the length of the hallway. And this will be the new home for the mixer, complete with a new quilted cover. :)
