When I had an inside cat the vet suggested two litter boxes. The litter was changed every other day, the boxes were washed with soap and water outside once a week. I never had a smell problem but the boxes were kept in the utility room with the vent fan running 24/7.

I use tidy cat with the black lid. Doesn't clump real well, doesn't have a lot of dust either. I have three cats and clean out the box once a day. Not any stink. My cats do not go outside.

i think that's the part it's best with & that's why i got it to begin with -- i could smell the ammonia in the urine -- but now this corn cob litter clumps great & NO smell of cat urine!
