How has 'em? Who doesn't?

barb55 04-11-2011 06:01 PM

I don't. Don't care for them.

Ramona Byrd 04-11-2011 06:04 PM

Gnomes? Don't have any. Just read a book about Flamingos, I think it would be a hoot to have some in my back yard. They used to be everywhere, but haven't seen any recently. Probably have to make some plywood ones of my own.

Tilladare 04-11-2011 06:05 PM

Might be fun to applique' some... (to give this some sort of quilting tie-in)

TonnieLoree 04-11-2011 06:07 PM

They probably wouldn't stand a chance in my front yard with the vandalism. If they're too cute or odd, they seem to be snatched like a suitcase full of $100 dollar bills. It's amazing what vandals will steal.

Joanns has some metal flamingos....... 50 % off..... all the others are all in my moms yard...

as for gnoms... Dawson, MN is a city of gnomes... They r everywhere. The town is on the map because of all their gnomes!...

I don't care for em my self

sueven 04-11-2011 06:14 PM

I think gnomes are a hoot. We have about 10 of them in the backyard. We hide them in the bushes and the garden. We are going to get some flamingos tomorrow when we go to Joann.s.

Annaquilts 04-11-2011 06:17 PM

Well ofcourse I do. I grew up in Europe and just a couple of weeks ago I went to see the movie gnomio with some of my children. Love those pink flamingoes too. If I had money i would buy those and more gnomes.

LaurieE 04-11-2011 06:24 PM

I don't have any but I'd love to have some. I've always liked gnomes. I even have a craft book that came out in the late 70s. Someday I'd like to make a gnome quilt.

You are correct. This doesn't have a quilting tie-in. I probably posted this in the wrong section. Sorry.

Magdalena 04-11-2011 06:41 PM

Yes, we have gnomes! They make me smile.

mzmama 04-11-2011 06:48 PM

I love my Travelocity Gnome so much I got him two little brothers. Outside??? No way. My husband thought they were multiplying.

I'm the party pooper. I don't like lawn ornaments.

LaurieE 04-11-2011 06:56 PM

Here's a website that has patterns for felt items. There's even a gnome quilt!

I did a Google search on gnome houses and the pictures that came up can give one some serious ideas about making a gnome house quilt.

emerald46 04-11-2011 06:57 PM

I have 3 hiding in the shrubs in the back. Our HOA is very picky about the front yard appearence!

Okay, how about gnome quilt patterns?

Don't have gnomes, but do have turtles. Which reminds me, Backporch Designs has a cute turtle quilt. Be neat to make one in batiks.

nor do I. I need all the room I have for flowers :) Husband is already making noises about the 3 boulders (not rocks) in one of the beds. I just laughed and said "fine - move them if you can". He's too cheap to rent a front loader :)

sew_southern 04-11-2011 07:40 PM

I don't have any in my yard, but I recently bought Michael Millers Gnome print fabric. Got it from Fabric.com and is so cute! :)

Tippy 04-11-2011 07:51 PM

Several years ago my sister bought me a book for my birthday.. all about Gnomes. I think it would be a hoot to make a quilt of a Gnome Home.... hmmmmm.........all sorts of interesting facts in the book and illustrations.
for instance when a Gnome goes to the bathroom they actually sit "on a throne".. and it plays music.... go figure!!! lol

Gramie bj 04-11-2011 08:05 PM

I have gnomes, Snow White and all 7 dwarfs, a lg fairy, assorted toads, frogs ect. all hiding in my flower beds my grand kids like to move them around for me. Never know where I will find them.

BellaBoo 04-11-2011 08:06 PM

I have several stuck in my landscape, sometimes I don't see them for several seasons, I forget where they are. DH sets them in the bushes so the mower won't run over them. I use to have Flamingos in the front but my teen girls were so embarrassed about them they kept moving them in the bushes too. LOL. I think I need some more Flamingos. DH isn't too keen on me getting live peacocks for the yard and I really want some of those.

deedum 04-11-2011 08:12 PM

We have a few, maybe 8 sitting around hiding in our garden beds. My DH likes them, but he said that was enough of them. I want to get a boat load of pink flamingo's to put in our front yard! My neighbors will be agast! Jokes on them. It would be a hoot! Me, I like bird houses, always have!

earthwalker 04-11-2011 09:28 PM

No...but lots of other randoms. We live in the hills and just at the foot of the hill is a business that specialises in birds, fish, reptiles and water features...today I noticed outside they have a collection of absolutely huge (lifesize) dinosaurs and a fantasy type dragon. I am so tempted to go down and buy one...they are probably hugely expensive...but would look so amazing. Will try and take pics next time I go there.

raedar63 04-11-2011 09:30 PM

I only have natural rocks, but my mom and grandma always had them. I had my eye on a huge sasquacth at the garden store last season, too bad he was expensive. Expensive and my husband would crap he likes his yards very tidy lol. On second thought after 30.5 years I may have to push some buttons to keep it real LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Sometimes living dangerously is very, very tempting :-D

gramajo 04-11-2011 10:40 PM

No gnomes, but a flock of flamingoes.

livenlearn124 04-12-2011 03:20 AM

I have a few tucked here and there throughout the yard.

You have to really look to find them.

The Grands love to look for them. =)

jitkaau 04-12-2011 03:22 AM

YUK.

bisseau 04-12-2011 03:30 AM

You're kidding...right?

KayT 04-12-2011 03:35 AM

I don't like gnomes and other ornaments. I prefer flowers outdoors. I put some seasonal decorations out, but not anything permanent. Now if we could figure out how to put out a quilt... :-)

chairjogger 04-12-2011 03:42 AM

Travelocity Gnome

I love that little guy.. so, of course, I have one in my "park" sideyard. next to my grandlings park bench.

Dolphyngyrl 04-12-2011 03:43 AM

My husband like to place them in odd places like the shower, so when you walk in it is right there staring at you

denilynne 04-12-2011 04:24 AM

My husband collects them, i don't personally care for them but it's his thing, he has about 50 and its growing, everywhere in the yard. some got stolen so he had to replace them, i bought some gnome fabric to make placemats for the patio table.

your guy has humor ! that is funny !

atvrider 04-12-2011 04:32 AM

I think the coyotes would steal them.

pieces 04-12-2011 04:33 AM

I have one! They watch over your garden. LOL
I do have other 'garden art' as well, but don't overdo it.
When I studied landscape design, there was a running joke about 'pink flamingos' from the instructor. And how they were in such bad taste to add them to a garden. I do NOT have one in my garden. LOL I would love to have large piece of art to add but they are way out of my budget.
