We haven't started decorating for Christmas yet. Well, that's not true, I wrapped my front door up like a christmas present... but we don't have any other decorations yet. Last year we didn't decorate either, but this year we're buying a real tree and everything. My mother has bins and bins full ( like, maybe 5 of those huge rubbermaid bins) of tree ornaments, and more of decorations for around the house. We're probably not going to put lights up outside, but I can't wait to decorate the inside of the house. I'm waiting till December 1st, at the very earliest before putting anythign else up. My mother has an extra tree stand for me, so we can put our tree in the living room, and she's going to lend me a bunch of decorations, and i'm sure she'll give me some permanently too :)
It would be nice to put lights up in the back yard, though.... (the back yard faces the street... it's weird, I know)

Edit: Oops, sorry, I forgot to turn the pics before attatching them....

This is my door from the inside

This is my door from the outside. I hate the colour of the door, but the landlord has them all painted the same way.

Nice door!

I've made something last year.
Rudolph (the one with the red nose) and a christmas bear. Both are from the Tilda-book, I love the Tilda books so much :) do you?

I just decorated two dozen pinecones with glitter (big kid thats me) and am hanging them from a garland. You can make a whole bunch of decorations for not very much money if you think about it. My daughter cut tons of snowflakes out of paper and they hung them from their apartment ceiling and taped them all over the windows. Came out really cute! I will cross fingers mom lets you keep a few to borrow again for next year!

sewnsewer2 11-25-2009 02:44 PM

Wow ya'll start early!! I won't decorate for another coupla weeks.

pvquilter 11-25-2009 02:57 PM

Wow. You are really on the ball. My granddaughters will be here this weekend, maybe they would like helping.

May in Jersey 11-26-2009 06:04 AM

Hope the weather is nice here in Jersey this weekend so I can put DS#3 to work helping his father put up our door and window wreaths and string some lights over our front foundation evergreens. DH hates doing the decorations but I won't put up with his Bah Hubug spirit.

Having a problem with arthritis in my knee so maybe only one tree will be put up indoors. I do a fancy one in the living room and a crafty one in the TV room. Crafty one has ornaments made my our kids and grandkids and the Santa and Snowmen ones I've collected over the years. Haven't bought a Santa for this year but it's early yet.

Hope to take some photos to show when I'm done. May in Jersey

We will go after a fake tree this weekend and then I'll decorate. Usually I don't put anything up til after my birthday, but since I won't be here for Christmas, I'll at least get something up.
I would LOVE to get a real tree, but no way am I paying $100 for one that was cut a month ago and will probably only be good for a week or so before I have to start vacuuming needles, so a cheap fake one is what we will do.
Not sure if I will put up my Christmas Village or not. Will have to figure that out after tree is done. Actually, would have to find a place for it, and I really don't know where it would go......

Joanofpa 11-26-2009 06:58 AM

Love that reindeer on top of the tree!

dglvr 11-26-2009 07:41 AM

Great Christmas tree. I'll post pictures when I get mine out as well. I have to have Turkey first though.

Iluv2quilt 11-26-2009 07:44 AM

My DM brought over a most beautiful poinsettia for our table!

I'll post pics of Christmas decorations after this weekend (I hope to get them up then).

bebe 11-30-2009 05:21 PM

okay ladies and gents where are your decorated homes, doors and such???? waiting for pics

adriansmom 11-30-2009 05:39 PM

going to get the tree this weekend. We get a real one every year and I love it. Never had that until I met dh. We don't have any problems with needles dropping because we get some sort of "fir" tree. I really like the frasier fir. One year it was too snowy to get out in the tree farm
(I'm disabled)so we cheated and got it from home depot. it was up over a month and had no problems. It was 7ft for $35. not bad!

Sandy1951 11-30-2009 09:31 PM

I love seeing everyone's decorations. So festive! I changed my avatar. Does that count?

amma 11-30-2009 09:59 PM

You all put me to shame

Hey Bebe! We have the same front door in our house! And the same ceramic tiles in the foyer. I like your light bricks... ours are red!

Love this thread!

swimmom 12-01-2009 05:47 PM

Can't wait to see the whole tree - that is fabulous!

pvquilter 12-01-2009 05:56 PM

Swimmom: Which village do you have. It looks lie the German Alpine Village. I have that one and have it out all year round.

swimmom 12-01-2009 06:33 PM

The large one is the North Pole - would love to see yours - always looking for ways to make set up easier and better
