I think I have only done that once...lesson learned!
Initially, she posted this thread in the Main section. That was the funny part for me.

Working with tissue paper patterns. I swear they get the thinest tissue paper possible, and then put it through some sort of paper planner so that it is even thinner than that. No wonder I quilt and seldom make anything that requires a tissue paper pattern!

Not that this is my big pet peeve or anything, but the last time I bought a Simplicity pattern (for Halloween), the lines were so faint, I could not see them to cut unless I held it up in direct sunlight. I was so upset, but I didn't have time to take it back. Somebody in quality control was sleeping on the job! Next time, I am going to pull the tissue out of the package to ensure that I can read all the print lines.

LOL! How about Worcester or nuclear? Nuclear is pronounced exactly as it is spelled!

My pet peave is people who don't wash their hands after blowing their nose or using the bathroom. YUK!

My pet peeve is pet peeves.

Kidding. My peeve is loved ones who ignore and/or mistreat one good person while lavishing praise on the bad seed. I don't understand bullying of good and rewarding of bad... but I see it all over the place.

Quilting pet peeve: blindness! I just fixed 3 mistakes on that 144 piece block *while* piecing it. How come when it's done, I need to fix 7 more mistakes!?!

Edit: Another one. I prefer anyway to anyways.

misuse of the English language- our region is known for dropping letters at the end of a word (pronouncing t, instead of -th), saying yous instead of you, and many others. Sorry- tird does not come after second. Two, tree... grrrr. Or- saying Hach instead of h.

speak it correctly!

And adults who can't spell, poor penmanship, the list goes on. I like my English proper (as proper as I can get for a coal mining region).

Don't get me started.....

quilt related- don't have any, don't sew with anyone to create a pet peeve. I love all quilters and anything quilt related.

(Now if I could teach myself to type as fast as my brain goes- without typos that would be cool...)

I don't like the new "share all" mentality due to the cell phone age. OMG some of the conversations going on in public....and talking out LOUD. I still want to answer them.

redquilter 01-11-2010 03:05 PM

People talking really loud on their cell phones in public places. Not all of us are interested in what's going on in their lives. Oh and people at buffets who load up their plates and throw most of it away, then go back and get more! Grrrrrr........!

Barbm 01-11-2010 03:14 PM

very good- madq- that's another one I can't stand. ask- s, not x.

I know a lot is very "regionalized" but you can undo your surroundings. (I used to say "crick" but it's a creek and I say creek.)

Our area is known for "heyna"- a word which is said at the end of a sentence, in combination with "or no" means, do you agree with me? heyna, or no?

Oh- Binghamton NY is referred to as "bimmingham"- what is with that? or should I say "wit"?

I'm sure other areas have the same quirks.

Cell phones!! We have signs all over our office to Please Turn Off Cell Phones--they interfere with some medical equipment. Out in the waiting room, of 4 waiting, 2 are talking away. I called one of them back to the exam area and she holds up a finger to tell me "one minute". Well, you know what finger I wanted to hold up!! I called the next patient and she acted all huffy. Oh well, lady-learn some manners and learn to read!!
What is so important that you can't shut off a cell phone for an hour?
