my biggest PP is people who go to a fast food restaurant and grab a whole fist full of napkins they will never use, throw away, you can hear the trees fall
another one is buy a package of 12 stick pens and having only 2 work  |
well, I live in the middle of the 'pine belt' where trees, just like soybeans, wheat, corn, etc, are grown as a CROP - from seedling to paper mill = 12 years.... the terrain is not conducive to "regular" crops - lots of hills and hollers, ridges and valleys, and pine trees make a great 'crop' - the trees go to the lumber yards or pulp mills.. the lumber yards are mostly closed now because of the housing crises - so trees are only going to the pulp mills, which have also gone down, the unemployment rate here is around 19%...
so go ahead and wad up those napkins - keep somebody in a job.... I guess one of my pet peeves is people automatically assuming that all paper products come from beautiful forests being decimated instead of a cash crop.... oh, and after clearcutting (which mostly is NOT done here) replanting is usually done within a month or so - so in another 12 years, there's another crop... |
Mine is people posting in the wrong section of the forum.
LOL. Sorry. Couldn't resist. |
Hiya Linda! I had to say I love your picture atavar! Sharp looking lady.
My pet peeve is spoiled children being raised to be useless, godless and no real educational drive. This is our future, folks! Opps .. Did you mean something quilting? Oh ... How about being a quarter inch off to finish a block in the middle of a snow storm? (been there) |
ONE of mine is,People not using thier turn signals..
Quilting related?! lack of confidence.."oh, i can't do that"..I say "Of course you can!" and i will help! |
My only pet peeve is children who are holy little terrors! Especially the ones who run around stores throwing tantrums, screaming and wreaking havoc.
Makes me want to smack the parents! lol |
My pet peeve is paying for and receiving patterns that are handwritten with sloppily drawn diagrams. I feel ripped off when people don't take the time to type out the directions and do not adequately describe the assembly process
|
Mine is hearing Massachusetts, and February mispronounced, and when someone says 7am in the morning. 7am IS in the morning.
|
My pet peeves are when people leave water running for no reason...my DH does this when he shaves...drives me crazy..why not just turn it one when you need to rinse??

I think I have only done that once...lesson learned! |
Working with tissue paper patterns. I swear they get the thinest tissue paper possible, and then put it through some sort of paper planner so that it is even thinner than that. No wonder I quilt and seldom make anything that requires a tissue paper pattern!

My pet peave is people who don't wash their hands after blowing their nose or using the bathroom. YUK! |
My pet peeve is pet peeves.
Kidding. My peeve is loved ones who ignore and/or mistreat one good person while lavishing praise on the bad seed. I don't understand bullying of good and rewarding of bad... but I see it all over the place. Quilting pet peeve: blindness! I just fixed 3 mistakes on that 144 piece block *while* piecing it. How come when it's done, I need to fix 7 more mistakes!?! Edit: Another one. I prefer anyway to anyways. |
misuse of the English language- our region is known for dropping letters at the end of a word (pronouncing t, instead of -th), saying yous instead of you, and many others. Sorry- tird does not come after second. Two, tree... grrrr. Or- saying Hach instead of h.
speak it correctly! And adults who can't spell, poor penmanship, the list goes on. I like my English proper (as proper as I can get for a coal mining region). Don't get me started..... quilt related- don't have any, don't sew with anyone to create a pet peeve. I love all quilters and anything quilt related. (Now if I could teach myself to type as fast as my brain goes- without typos that would be cool...) |

People talking really loud on their cell phones in public places. Not all of us are interested in what's going on in their lives. Oh and people at buffets who load up their plates and throw most of it away, then go back and get more! Grrrrrr........!
|
very good- madq- that's another one I can't stand. ask- s, not x.
I know a lot is very "regionalized" but you can undo your surroundings. (I used to say "crick" but it's a creek and I say creek.) Our area is known for "heyna"- a word which is said at the end of a sentence, in combination with "or no" means, do you agree with me? heyna, or no? Oh- Binghamton NY is referred to as "bimmingham"- what is with that? or should I say "wit"? I'm sure other areas have the same quirks. |
Cell phones!! We have signs all over our office to Please Turn Off Cell Phones--they interfere with some medical equipment. Out in the waiting room, of 4 waiting, 2 are talking away. I called one of them back to the exam area and she holds up a finger to tell me "one minute". Well, you know what finger I wanted to hold up!! I called the next patient and she acted all huffy. Oh well, lady-learn some manners and learn to read!!
What is so important that you can't shut off a cell phone for an hour? |
People that go to all you can eat buffets & leave the table looking like a bunch of pigs ate there. Also let their children throw food & make messes on the floor. I always clean up after my little ones. My kids laugh at me because I clean up the table & put all the trash on a plate & as I put it, police the area.
|
Kids running amok..people who eat while wandering around shopping centres...mobile phones going off every five minutes while people are visiting or sitting to dine...rudeness and generally people who forget their please and thank-yous....Oh gosh, my list is endless....sorry for the rant...just getting old and grumpy I guess.
|
Chewing gun spit out - on the street, sidewalk, under a table - anywhere but properly thrown away. Just gross.
Quilting peeve - when you buy a kit and wash the fabric and it shrinks too much to make the pattern. Makes me go grrr. |
People blocking the aisle at Costco so that they can get that bite of whatever. Not using turn signals. Parents not parenting and wondering why their children are horrible.
|
Someone was looking for a quick reference chart for binding requirements. Check out this site, it has more that enough information to help you with that and more.

We have that here in Arkansas as well. And, since Global Warming is in the hot seat for fraud right now, we can at least have less of a guilty conscience 'bout it. LOL! oh, and after clearcutting (which mostly is NOT done here) replanting is usually done within a month or so - so in another 12 years, there's another crop... |
My pet peeves are:
Chewing or eating with mouth open; smacking with food in mouth; not saying 'excuse me' when you bump into me accidentally at the store. Not opening doors for Seniors; not using turn signals; not waving 'thanks' when someone lets you out of a long line of traffic; people in the fast lane on the Interstate doing LESS than the stated speed limit; unruly children.... I could go on, but these are certainly at the top of my list! |
I agree with Shadow Dancer, I get really upset when I go to a nice restaurant and people let their kids squeal and yell and run all over the place. And yet if they get hurt, then the parents want to sue the restaurant.

Another one for me is people (mostly kids I think) say "like" all the time...like it drives me like completely like NUTS!...lol |
My top one is the butchery of the English language. The worst one is using "busted" to mean "broken". Even the news anchors are doing it -- talking about a "busted" water main instead of a "broken" water main. It drives me crazy!
The next one is parents who, when you speak to them about their child's behavior in class, yell at me instead of the child. Excuse me, but I am not the one misbehaving! |
Children are a biggie with me. I didn't take your kid on to raise, nor do I think he/she is as cute as you do. I definitely don't think he/she is cute when he/she is having a temper tantrum, and I can't for the life of me understand why you do. ("You" meaning the parents! ;) ) Nor do I think they're simply adorable when they backtalk or sass ANY adult.
That being said...intolerance drives me batty. I can't stand to be around people that hate for no justifiable reason. |
I guess if I were to add my 2 cents worth on PP's, it would have to be people who "know it all, been everywhere, done everything perfectly of course". I love sharing and I love someone who shares with me in loving ways, not better than thou ways.
|
dlf- adopt me! I have one of those for a sister and it drives me nuts. :)
Oh- new thing in PA- hope it's not where you are- exiting from the expressway- from the left lane- across three lanes to a right exit- without a turn signal. Once I start breathing again, I want to exit after them and give them a smack upside the head! SCARY! |
My pp is someone asking me to do something, then he's looking over my shoulder to make sure I do it right. Get off my back and do it yourself!!!
Or when I'm told I'm not needed then she keeps calling with questions. Figure it out!! |

okay, it's me...not knowing how to work the computer. :(
|
mu pet peeve is getting a responce for a problem when looking for a solution to a problem and getting a violnt response of pointing a gun at a person no wounder our society has become so violant if people think this is the way ton solve a problem
|
No, I don't live there but we have them in California also.
|
My biggest pet peeve is not only 'regular' drivers not using turn signals, but our city's POLICE don't use them either. I've lost count of how many times I've seen this.
My other pet peeve is people who litter. They make me nuts. I want to pick up their trash and throw it back into their car...but you never know who has a gun on them and would use it if you did this. |
