Thursday was my GS second birthday. In the morning while the kids, 5 and 2, we're eating breakfast we started singing Happy Birthday to the little one. He started crying! Great big tears! I guess we scared him!

When my oldest son was 3, we were moving from one house to another, and he was watching us packing items into a trailer... as he was outside playing. All of a sudden he comes running into the house, stops by his auntie and asks... did they move the toilet yet? I hope not, cuz I sure have to go bad!! We all laughed at this one...to this day.. when we help his family move...we ask if he is ready for the toilet!!!!

Someone else mentioned how kids say certain words and to this day they still call such items like that also...
We do also. I always make BBQ ribs with homemade sauce, and one time when my middle son was about 3, he always called them dribs...to this day we call them dribs. So his son one day... found out we were having dribs and he was just not excited at all. When it was time to eat, he sat down at the table and looks at his plate and says... these are bones not dribs!!!! He was all excited again. lol

our whole family roots for the OSU Buckeyes, and kiddingly say "that state up north" is a cuss word. One day, on a family trip, we were with two of our grandkids, ages around 3-4, heading up to the UP. We had just crossed the state line moments before, and passed a spot where a skunk had been killed. Out of the back seat, my 3 yr old granddaughter said " OOOh, stinky. We must be in Micigan'" We tease her about that to this day

I have a twin sister ("firstborns") and there are plenty of "What did you do?!" stories our Mom liked to tell about us. For the longest time I thought she was just telling people how naughty we were and would be embarrassed or humiliated. (They did not have stories they told about two of younger siblings, the third, well...). After my nephews and nieces were born, I got to see the amusing side of young kids escapades.

My Mom liked to tell of the time she inherited her grandmothers cut glass vase and figured that we would not be able to get to it if she stored it in the cabinet above the refrigerator. Nope, it seems we dragged a highchair to the 'fridge, climbed on that, opened the freezer to get on top, then disaster.

Once she realized it was too quiet and when she found us, we had shined the kitchen floor with butter and did the doorknob as an added bonus. Another time she found us with streamers we had soaked in the dog's water bowl changing the color of the wall in the house they rented. And yet another we had found a stash of jello powder my Dad's Dad, who was a chemist had formulated for really hot climates (could hold it's shape longer) and had it all over us, and the floor under the table.

She caught one of us in our sister's crib (we were around 3 yrs), handing her to the other standing next to it. (Heart stopper.)

The first nephew was about 2 1/2 when my sister was close to giving birth to her second child. My sister and I would take him for rides. Once as we were driving downtown I saw a street that shared his name, Taylor. When I pointed it out he said; "That's otay, I can share." As we were getting close to home, I meant to amuse him by making a noise that sounded like the tires were squealing as a turned corners. When we got back he announced to his parents, "Aunt Sighyest drives like a maniac!" The stricken look my DBIL gave me made me think I'd never be driving his kid(s) around EVER AGAIN!

When he was at the age where he could identify parts of the body by pointing to it, his Dad had said "ice" and Taylor not only pointed to his eye, but was touching it. (eek)

I once went to visit my sister and her family, this time up to four, during a summer month in Oklahoma. I just don't "do" hot muggy days, so stayed in their cool home while they took off to the park. The second son Bryce came back with a friend all excited and told me I had to come and see something. It turns out he had had caught a big frog and was thrilled. As we were walking there he explained that his mom had told them not to get into the mud at the lake, but when he saw that frog he decided getting in trouble "was worth it!" My sister appreciated the catch and there was no trouble about any mess. He asked his Mom to write down on their calendar that it was the "best day of my life!"

One Sunday in church two little brothers were in the pew in front of us. The older one, about 6, says to the younger one, about 5 "See, I told you my fart don't stink!". It was all I could do to keep quiet and not laugh.

I have two cute stories! My DGS is 5 and somehow he got interested in storm chaser shows on the weather channel. So now every time we go outside he "sees" a tornado!

Yesterday I went with my daughter to DGS doctor appointment. I was walking about a step behind him. He said "Grandma you have to hurry and hold my hand so you don't get hit by a car. We're in a parking lot!"

My daughter is a Social Worker with the Children's Aid. Recently she was at a call along with a Police Officer. She was outside the house writing up a report when the Officer came out and asked if he could have her name and phone number. She gave him " the look" and proceeded to tell him that she was very happily married and was not going to give him her phone number. He told her with a big grin on his face that she wasn't the only one that had to write up a report and he just needed her name and WORK number for this very reason! One of her most embarrassing moments!

When my DD was a toddler and almost ready for a toddler bed, she had a habit of crawling out of her crib and prowling the house way to early in the morning. So I started putting up the side of her crib again. One very early morning we were all in bed and I could hear her talking to herself in her crib. All of a sudden the doorbell rang and it was the paperboy.
After my DH paid the paperboy he got back into bed. All of a sudden from her room we heard "Ding Dong". guess that was our wake-up call. Pretty clever for a tot!
