Glad you guys are ok... We have terrible power surges in our area.. we have lost and replaced sooooooo many things.. tvs, treadmill, oven, water heater, foodsaver, toaster oven, alarm clocks, modems, 3n1 printers to name a few... the big screen tvs, flat screen and the computers were/ARE on the 'best' surge protectors.. as well as my sewing machines when they are plugged in.

We unplug my sewing machine, our two computers and our printer after using them. Not only does it remove the threat of an electrical surge, it also saves electricity.
any electrical device that is turned off but still has lights lit to turn it on faster uses a lot of elctricity. I read that 25% of the average electric bill is for just such appliances. |
That happened to me a few yrs ago got my computer with melted apc surge protector, fire detector, a/c unit, out side lights, a 67 ft norfork palm, a 15 ft royal palm, and tore up the lawn

Glad you and hubby are okay. That same storm system came through here a little later. We got about 2 inches of rain with lots of thundering and lightening.
I live in Jonesboro so we're not too far away from you. |
We got a lot of rain, but not much wind! I now have 2 hdtvs and a new printer. Will be replacing the other items later.
|
wow..and my insurance calls that an act of GOD and won't replace anything damaged by lightening...go figure..how come they can acknowledge GOD but our Govt/schools, etc can not???
|
Wow! There was a thread going a couple of weeks ago with people pooh-poohing unplugging during a storm.
